When you are traveling with your pet, the in-cabin pet fee could be as much as your ticket. But some airlines offer affordable options for traveling with your furry friends.

No matter which airline you choose, confirm availability of pet space before booking tickets. It’s common to limit the number of pets per plane.

Here are what some of the major U.S. and Canadian airlines charge for in-cabin pets.

WestJet

WestJet is a Canadian discount airline comparable to Southwest or Spirit Airlines. One-way pet fees range between $50 to $59 Canadian dollars, or about $37 to $45 each way.

Air Canada

Within Canada and for flights to the U.S., the in-cabin pet fee is between CA$50 and CA$59. For international flights beyond the U.S., the rate doubles.

JetBlue

The fee is $125 each way on flights where pets are allowed. They don’t accept pets in the cabin to Jamaica, Barbados, Saint Lucia, the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago. JetBlue is unique in offering 300 frequent flyer points per segment when flying with a pet.

American Airlines

The fee is $125 each way, but you aren’t allowed to travel with your pet in the cabin on transatlantic flights. You can go to destinations within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, Colombia and some Caribbean countries.

United Airlines

United charges $125 each way, domestically and internationally. Stopovers double the cost if there are more than four hours between flights in the U.S. or 24 hours internationally.

Delta Air Lines

Delta charges $125 each way if flying in the U.S. or to Puerto Rico. Most international flights are $200 each way. Flights to and from Brazil are $75.

Southwest Airlines

The fee is lower than other airlines at $95 each way. Pets are only allowed in the cabin on domestic travel.
