NFL Extra Points Credit Card
Diehard pro football fans, take note: The NFL Extra Points Credit Card is more than a marketing gimmick. If you get the card, you’ll enjoy some good benefits on select NFL purchases, including rewards on merchandise and preferred financing for game tickets, as well as a sign-up bonus: Earn 10,000 bonus points after $500 in purchases in the first 90 days, enough to redeem for $100 cash back.
Even for the diehards, though, we highly recommend you carry a complementary card, one with a more expansive rewards program. That’s not a knock on the NFL Extra Points Credit Card: With an annual fee of $0 and all 32 team logos available, this is a cheap and rewarding way to show support for your team.
Ticket purchases and other perks
This card’s most unique feature may be its ticket financing perk. You get a 0% promotional APR for 6 months on ALL ticket purchases from a team ticket office. Otherwise, this card has a 0% on Balance Transfers for 15 months, and then the ongoing APR of 15.24%, 20.24% or 25.24% Variable APR.
You’ll also earn 2 points per $1 spent on NFL or team purchases — game tickets, in-stadium items and merchandise at team Pro Shops — and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases. We recommend, however, that you hold off on buying that jersey until you make it back to your computer: On NFLShop.com, you’ll receive an additional 20% discount.
Redemption is easy, as you can redeem points for statement credit (1 cent per point) or for gift cards and merchandise.
Clearly, this card is for a very particular consumer — the kind who has jerseys framed and mounted around the apartment.
A complementary card for the traveling fan
If you want to take your fandom a step further and fly to out-of-town games, we recommend travel card. One of our favorites is the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card, which offers unlimited 2X miles per dollar on all purchases, every day. You can redeem for statement credit against all kinds of travel expenses, including airfare, hotel rooms and car rentals.
These rewards’ best feature may be their flexibility: There are no spending thresholds or caps, and, when you redeem for travel credit, they apply to any hotel or airline you like — not just a select few. Unlike with the NFL Extra Points Credit Card, whose annual fee is $0, the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card has an annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $95.
