This just in. Amazon Prime Day moves back to June (from July) for 2026. Official dates are TBD, but you can likely expect a multiday event with discounts on products in many categories.

October Prime Day, officially called Prime Big Deal Days was Oct. 7-8, 2025.

What is Prime Day?

Born in 2015, Prime Day is a sale holiday that Amazon totally made up. It’s a limited-time summer sale just for Amazon Prime members.
Over 10 years later, Prime Day stands alongside Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a go-to shopping event for good buys across the board. Past installments included price cuts on everything from Echo devices to tea tree shampoo.
The first October version of Prime Day happened in 2022. It was called the Prime Early Access sale. Now known as Prime Big Deal Days, it’s become Amazon’s holiday sale before the holiday sales.
Prime Big Deals Days tends to features deals on gift-worthy categories including toys, electronics, travel gear and clothing.

Amazon also has a
Big Spring Sale in March, but that one is open to all shoppers, but billed as even better for Prime members.

What do you need to do?

To shop Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days deals, you need to be a Prime member. Amazon Prime costs $139 per year or $14.99 per month. New Prime members get a 30-day free trial before paying.
With a Prime for Young Adults (formerly Prime Student) membership, eligible college students and people ages 18 to 24 pay $69 per year or $7.49 per month after a 6-month trial. Some recipients of government assistance may also be eligible for a discounted rate.
And keep your options open. Amazon’s events trigger competing sales from other retailers such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy and others. So, go ahead ... shop around.
