For a limited time, Chase is offering elevated sign-up bonuses to new Sapphire customers. As of March 23, 2021, applicants will be eligible for the following:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: Earn 80,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. (That's $1,000 when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards®.) Plus, earn up to $50 in statement credits toward grocery store purchases. This new bonus is a 20,000-point boost from what the card previously offered.

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve®: Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. (That's $900 toward travel when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards®.) This offer is a 10,000-point increase from the card’s previous sign-up bonus.

Points for the Preferred and Reserve cards are typically worth a penny each when redeeming for cash back, but they take on a value of 1.25 cents and 1.5 cents, respectively, when redeeming for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards®.

Both Chase Sapphire cards are also offering a number of other limited-time benefits in response to COVID-19. For example, through April 30, 2021:

  • The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card will earn 2 points per $1 spent at grocery stores, on up to $1,000 in purchases per month. Cardholders can also redeem points for statement credit (at a value of 1.25 cents per point) to cover purchases at grocery stores, restaurants and home improvement stores.

  • Similarly, Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders will earn 3 points per $1 spent at grocery stores, on up to $1,000 in purchases per month. They can also redeem points for statement credit (at a value of 1.5 cents per point) to cover purchases at grocery stores, restaurants and home improvement stores.
