Earn 2,000 Bonus Bonvoy Points for Courtyard by Marriott Stays Before 2020

A sweet points offer for staying at Courtyard by Marriott properties is bringing a new opportunity for Marriott Bonvoy members to boost their earnings.
Members of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program can earn 2,000 bonus points per night for stays at Courtyard by Marriott hotels. What’s unique about this promotion is that there’s no limit to the number of nights you can stay at a Courtyard property and earn the 2,000 bonus points.
Though it is based on availability and subject to blackout dates, this promotion is good for the rest of the year on stays through Dec. 31, 2019.
How points can add up quickly
These extra points are in addition to the base rate of 10 points per dollar earned at Courtyard by Marriott hotels under the rules of the Marriott Bonvoy program.
If you spent seven nights at a Courtyard by Marriott property with a rate of $150 per night, for example, you’d earn 10,500 points. Add these to your 14,000 bonus points (2,000 per night for seven nights) under this promotion, and you’d end up with 24,500 points total.
Even on a shorter weekend stay, points can add up. The same $150 room for two nights would earn 3,000 base points, and this bonus will earn you an additional 4,000 points for a 133% increase overall.

How to register for the offer
First, you must be a Marriott Bonvoy member to be eligible, so register for the program if you haven’t already.
Once you’re signed up, enter code 53M on your reservation on the Marriott website, or call Marriott at 877-627-74688 or 877-MARRIOTT to book.
Another Courtyard promotion option
Courtyard is also offering a second promotion good Thursdays through Sundays: You can get free breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children per day of your stay.
The promotion includes one hot breakfast item or two cold items plus a drink at participating Courtyard locations and dates through Dec. 31, 2019.
Enter the promo code S4B on the Marriott site or book through the promotional link to check whether your stay qualifies.
Which promotion is better?
These two promotions cannot be combined, so if you’re staying on a weekend, you’ll have to decide which is the better deal for your situation.
The price for breakfast varies at Courtyard by Marriott properties. For example, at the Courtyard by Marriott on I-65 in Mobile, Alabama, a full breakfast starts at $12.
When we checked prices for the weekend starting Sept. 27, 2019, at the same property, prepaid member rates for a double room started at $88 per night.
Given these circumstances, the breakfast deal might be a better bet for a family of four. Here’s how we did the math:
If you bought breakfast at the $12/person rate, you’d spend $48 per day.
If you bought 2,000 Bonvoy points, you’d spend $25 per day. (Marriott charges $12.50 per 1,000 points).
If you have to choose for a family of four, the breakfast deal wins out as a far better value. You can do similar math for your situation to pit the cost of breakfast against the bonus points you’ll earn to decide which promotion gets you a better deal.

What if you’re an elite member?
Some Marriott elite members can actually have their cake (or breakfast) and eat it too, since they get to choose a Welcome Gift.
At Courtyard properties, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite guests can elect to receive a $10 food and beverage coupon per night for themselves and one companion.
Elite members have to specify the Welcome Gift of their choice, as the dining credit is not given automatically. Another option is a bonus of 500 points per stay instead of the food and beverage coupon.
It’s important to remember that a Welcome Gift of 500 points bonus is awarded per stay, while there is no limit on the number of nights you can accumulate food and beverage coupons. It might not make sense to take the 500-point bonus if you are staying multiple nights.
This is one example where using the above bonus points promotion coupled with elite status benefits could help you come out ahead.
