Metal is the new plastic.
Capital One is making the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card available in metal. Those who apply for the travel credit card beginning Feb. 15, 2017, will receive a card that is “made of stainless steel veneer and is produced with 75% recycled materials,” according to a statement from the issuer.
The Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card isn’t the only credit card that goes “plink.” The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card are all made of metal. Premium cards with steep annual fees have also touted their sleek exteriors. Consider the MasterCard Gold Card, for example, the “24K-Gold-Plated/Carbon Card” that charges a $995 annual fee.
But the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card stands out in a big way: It offers robust flat-rate rewards. This makes it a more appealing choice for some travelers. The card offers 2 miles per dollar spent on everything and has an annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $95. Miles are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for travel booked through Capital One, or as a credit against travel purchases. The card also offers a sign-up bonus: Enjoy a one-time bonus of 50,000 miles once you spend $3,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, equal to $500 in travel.
