Next time you order takeout, you might want to reach for a Freedom or Sapphire card. Until May 31, 2020, Chase is offering 5% cash back or 5 points per dollar spent on these cards on up to $500 in purchases when you make restaurant orders using the food delivery platform DoorDash or the delivery and reservation platform Tock. No sign-up is necessary; the rewards accrue automatically.

Because of the spending cap, this offer is worth up to $25 on the Freedom cards, $31.25 on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and $37.50 on the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. That's a nice boost, especially if you're already ordering plenty of takeout. You'd be hard-pressed to find a card that offers a rewards rate that high on such purchases, even with a spending cap.

How it works

Here's what you need to do to earn these bonus rewards:

  1. Order delivery through DoorDash or Tock using an eligible Chase card. To earn bonus rewards, the merchant must submit charges to your credit card by May 31, 2020.

  2. Wait for rewards to post. This could take up to eight weeks, according to Chase.

This isn't the first time Chase has teamed up with DoorDash and Tock. In January, it partnered with DoorDash to offer a limited-time complimentary DashPass to eligible cardholders, which gets you $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees. If you have an eligible card, you can still activate this benefit through Dec. 31, 2021. And in 2018, Chase partnered with Tock so that cardholders could book reservations with the now-defunct Chase Pay app. Earlier this year, Chase announced it would expand its partnership with Tock in the coming months.
