The holidays always seem to sneak up on us, and they've done it again. If you’re a Citi cardholder, this is no sweat — Citi offers shopping benefits. Here’s what you need to know.

Rewind your price for double the time

Citi Price Rewind searches online for better deals on your qualified purchases, and it refunds you the difference if a deal comes up. You can also find the deal yourself and submit a claim. This benefit has been doubled, from 30 days after purchase to 60 days after purchase. This is especially helpful during the holiday season, because you can buy gifts in time for the holidays and get refunded when the after-holiday sales hit.

You can use Price Rewind by registering your purchases here. In order to use this benefit, you must make purchases with your Citi card — rewards points don’t count. The maximum amount of refund is $500 per item, $2,500 per year. There's no minimum price difference to qualify. Check your Citi benefits statement for the qualified purchase restrictions.

Extended warranty coverage applies to more purchases

Use your Citi card to add as much as an additional year to your warranty on qualified purchases with manufacturer’s warranties up to five years. This applies to qualified purchases paid in full with your Citi card and/or reward points that have a manufacturer’s warranty.

Purchases that don’t qualify include: motorized vehicles, items that are leased, rented or otherwise not paid in full, an extended warranty or additional service contract attached to the purchase, services that aren’t covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, items bought for resale, items purchased for commercial or professional purchases, pre-owned items, medical equipment, and property such as land or buildings. Check your Citi benefits statement for any additional restrictions and warranty details.

Your damaged and stolen purchases are covered for longer

It's no fun finding out your new purchase has been damaged or stolen. Citi’s got you covered by extending its damage and theft purchase protection to 120 days (or 90 days if you live in New York State). Your qualified stolen or damaged product will be refunded or fixed after you file a claim. Check your benefits statement for exact coverage amounts, and don’t forget to take note of both the single-item and annual limits.

Purchases that don’t qualify include: items that you lost, rented and leased items, motorized vehicles, cash and cash equivalents, tickets, jewelry, cameras and other video recording equipment in baggage that isn’t on your person, perishable goods, land and buildings, plants and animals, and services.

I don't have a Citi card, but I want one. Any recommendations?

The Citi Double Cash® Card gives you 1% cash back when you make a purchase, and another 1% back when you pay it off. These rewards can be redeemed for a statement credit, gift card or check. The annual fee is $0 and you'll receive an introductory offer of 0% intro APR on Balance Transfers for 18 months, and then the ongoing APR of 19.24%-29.24% Variable APR. Remember, if you decide to take advantage of this 0% offer, you need to pay off the balance before the rate expires to avoid incurring interest.

The Citi Double Cash® Card comes with extra perks like late-fee pass the first time you make a late payment and the flexibility to move your due date to a convenient date each month. It's a great card for shopping this holiday season — but make sure to pay off your purchases to receive the full rewards.

Bottom line: Citi’s improved benefits may save you a lot of money this holiday season. Always take reasonable care of your purchases and register purchases that may be eligible for Price Rewind in order to take full advantage of these upgraded benefits.
