Pros and cons

Pros
  • No annual fee

  • 2.99% for 12 mos on transfers

Cons

If you're a resident of NorCal, Nevada or Utah, the AAA credit card gives great gas rewards - 5% back anytime you fill up, for the first $500 you spend each month - plus 2% on AAA expenses and 1% back on everything else.

If you don't live there, though, the rewards are nowhere as good. The card only earns 1% rewards on everything. You can find much better cards, especially for gas purchases. Check out our roundup of the best gas credit cards for a comprehensive list of ways you can do better. Among tour favorites: the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred, which gives 3% back on gas as well as 6% on groceries; the PenFed Platinum Cashback, which earns 5% on all gas and isn't geographically restricted; and the BP credit card, which gives 5% on BP gas but has a fantastic 2x rewards promotion.
