Cheapest car insurance in Las Vegas for full coverage
Progressive has the cheapest full coverage in Las Vegas, with an average cost of $2,112 per year or $176 per month.
“Full coverage” is a term for a policy with all of the insurance Nevada requires, along with coverage for theft and most other kinds of damage to your car. Your auto lender will likely require full coverage while you pay off a loan, but full coverage can be worth having (even after you’ve paid off your auto loan) if you couldn’t afford to replace your vehicle.

| Progressive | $2,112 |
| CIG | $2,432 |
| Travelers | $2,623 |
| Country Financial | $3,517 |

Why is car insurance so expensive in Las Vegas — and what can you do about it?
Rates can be higher in Las Vegas than in other cities in Nevada because of the number of accidents in the city, and other local factors. When you add in pressures like inflation and supply chain disruptions that can make repairs more expensive, it drives up insurance rates even more.
Even though Las Vegas is an expensive place for insurance, it’s still possible to find cheap coverage by comparing rates from a few companies before you buy or renew a policy. You could also consider raising your deductibles (that’s the part that you’d pay out of a future claim), or dropping some of the coverage you have for an older car to lower your rates.
Cheapest car insurance in Las Vegas for minimum coverage
CIG has the cheapest full coverage in Las Vegas, with an average cost of $758 per year or $63 per month.
At minimum, drivers in Las Vegas have to carry enough liability insurance to meet Nevada’s statewide requirements. Liability insurance doesn’t help to pay for your injuries or your car’s damage. Instead, it helps to pay for the injuries and property damage you cause to other people.
| Company | Median annual rate |
|---|---|
| CIG | $758 |
| Progressive | $805 |
| Travelers | $984 |
| GEICO | $1,073 |
| USAA* | $685 |
*USAA is available only to military families, veterans and some federal employees.
These are median rates for 35-year-old drivers, according to our April 2026 analysis.
A basic policy in Nevada provides:
$25,000 of liability insurance for each person you injure in an accident.
$50,000 of liability insurance for all of the people you injure in a single accident.
$20,000 of liability insurance for property that you damage or destroy per accident.
Why more coverage is better: These amounts or “limits” might seem high — lots of drivers probably don’t have $25,000 on hand — but the minimum amount of insurance could leave you underinsured after a serious accident.
Imagine that you’re involved in a serious crash that totals your car and the car of the other driver. You’re judged to be at fault for the accident, so your insurance must cover the damage you caused. The problem is that the other driver owns a new sports car and your policy’s property damage (the minimum of $20,000) only covers a small part of the cost of replacing it.
In this situation, you’d be legally required to pay for any repair bills your policy wouldn’t cover.

Cheapest car insurance in Las Vegas by age
A driver’s age gives insurance companies an idea of how likely that driver is to be in a crash. Younger drivers are the most likely to be involved in accidents of any age group, and so they tend to pay more for car insurance at that age than they would when they’re older.
Although rates will start out high if you’re a young driver, they usually get closer to average in the long run (as long as you avoid accidents and driving violations). Your cheapest company may change as you get older.

Drivers with a recent accident or driving violation on their records — sometimes called high-risk drivers — will almost always pay more for car insurance than average. For example, after an accident the cost of car insurance in Las Vegas is $3,193 per year, compared to $2,112 per year for an accident-free driver.
Rates won’t be the same for all driving violations: A fender bender won’t necessarily cause the same rate increase as a serious driving violation, like a DUI, would. No matter your driving record, you could still still find relatively cheap car insurance by shopping around.

Cheapest car insurance in Las Vegas by credit history
You may not know it, but your credit scores can make it harder to find cheap car insurance. In Nevada, insurers can consider your credit-based insurance score (which gives them a sense of how likely you are to file a claim) when setting rates.
A credit-based insurance score isn’t the same as a credit score that a bank or credit card would be interested in, but both are calculated from your credit history. If you’re able to improve your credit, it could bring down your insurance rates.
Progressive has the cheapest car insurance in Las Vegas for drivers with poor credit, with an average rate of $252 per month or $3,028 per year for full coverage.

METHODOLOGY
For our “good driver” profile, NerdWallet averaged insurance estimates for single male and female drivers with good credit and no tickets or violations. The analysis included 5-10 of the largest insurance companies in each state; smaller insurers were also included when rates were available. Liberty Mutual and its subsidiaries were excluded from our analysis as rates were not available.
For full coverage policies, we used the following coverage limits:
$100,000 bodily injury liability per person.
$300,000 bodily injury liability per accident.
$50,000 property damage liability per accident.
$100,000 uninsured motorist coverage per person.
$300,000 uninsured motorist coverage per accident.
Collision coverage with a $1,000 deductible.
Comprehensive coverage with a $1,000 deductible.
In states where required, minimum additional coverages were added. Some policies include additional coverages at the insurer’s discretion.
We used a 2023 Toyota Camry LE for all drivers and assumed 12,000 annual miles driven.
We analyzed rates for drivers 20 to 70 years old in 10-year increments. For the average cost of full and minimum coverage in each state, we looked at 35-year-old drivers.
We used the same assumptions for all other driver profiles, with the following exceptions:
For drivers with minimum coverage, we adjusted the numbers above to reflect the minimum required coverage by law in the state.
We changed the credit tier from “good” to “poor” as reported to the insurer to see rates for drivers with poor credit.
For drivers with one at-fault crash, we added a single at-fault crash that happened six months ago, resulting in $10,000 in property damage and no bodily injury claim.
For drivers with a DUI, we added a single drunken driving violation that happened six months ago.
We looked at 35-year-old drivers to find the cheapest company overall, the cheapest company for minimum coverage and the cheapest company for drivers with poor credit in states where credit history is used to price rates. We looked at 20-year-old drivers to find the cheapest company for young drivers.
These are rates generated through Quadrant Information Services. Your own rates will be different. Some insurance companies included in this article may have made changes in their underwriting practices and no longer issue new policies in your state.
