Restricted stock units (RSUs) are a type of employee equity compensation that promises to grant employees company shares that vest on a set schedule. (They could have other conditions, as well.) The promised stock units aren’t yours — and have no actual value — until they’ve vested and any other conditions are met.

RSU calculator
Use our calculator to estimate the value of your RSU grant, as well as the value of your next batch of vested shares.
How to use the RSU calculator
To calculate the value of your RSUs, you’ll need:
The number of shares granted to you. You should be able to find this information in your grant paperwork.
The current stock price. This is today’s value of your company’s stock. You may need to estimate this if your company is private. Keep in mind that stock values fluctuate, and that will change the true value of your RSUs until you sell your shares.
The vesting schedule. The calculator assumes your RSUs follow a graded vesting schedule, meaning you take ownership of a portion of your RSUs at regular intervals over a set number of years. The calculator allows you to use a yearly, quarterly or monthly interval.
The vesting period (in years). If your vesting schedule is quarterly and the vesting period lasts four years, you would receive 1/16th of your RSUs per quarter. If your shares follow a cliff vesting schedule, you would receive the full value of your RSUs after the set vesting period is complete.
