2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Review 2026: Prices and Plans
2-10 Home Buyers Warranty offers affordable plans with good add-on options but has low customer satisfaction ratings.Although 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty offers competitive pricing throughout its coverage area, its flexible service fee options won’t benefit every homeowner. Only three of its five plans are available online, but the full set provides a good variety of coverage options for homeowners, including coverage for just appliances and just systems. But low customer satisfaction scores and lower coverage limits in some categories lead 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty to get only 2.5 stars from NerdWallet’s editorial team.
Monthly fees start at $35, and coverage is $2,000 each for heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems. It has three plans with flexible service fees and an option to increase coverage caps to $5,000 per item category.
To give you a complete look at 2-10’s services and coverage, NerdWallet’s Home Services editorial team read the company’s sample contract from top to bottom, scrutinized its policies and exclusions, collected quotes for every plan in different major cities and researched customer satisfaction on consumer review websites and Reddit. We’ve done the legwork so you can learn what you need to know about 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty.
2-10 Home Buyers Warranty offers flexible service fee options and guarantees its repairs for the term of a service agreement.
The Nerds’ take on 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty
2-10 Home Buyers Warranty offers flexible service fee options and guarantees its repairs for the term of a service agreement.
NerdWallet rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars.
What makes it shine: Affordable plans that offer competitive coverage and pricing make 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty a contender for homeowners who are looking for reasonable options. The company also has a long list of items you can add to your plans for more customizable coverage.
Our Home Services editorial team appreciated the extra coverage features that the Pinnacle Home plan offers, including covering more appliance and plumbing hardware that’s often excluded by home warranties. We also liked the Luxury Package option, which increases how much the company pays for repairs to every major category of item. Although it makes your monthly fee higher, some homeowners will find the extra coverage helpful for big repairs.
A unique feature that stood out to our editorial team is 2-10’s guarantee that it’ll refund your service fee if it sends out a contractor for an issue that’s not covered by your home warranty plan. We’ve yet to see that with any other home warranty companies.
What could be better: The company confirmed with NerdWallet that not all of its plans are available online, which means you’ll have to call if you want to get quotes for all five plans. Our Home Services team also did the math on the potential savings if you choose a higher service fee to save money on your monthly fee, and it wasn’t as good of a deal as we’d hoped. Some homeowners will save money by going with a higher service fee, but some will end up paying more.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty plans
The company has five plans. Simply Kitchen includes major kitchen appliances, Complete Home covers appliances and major systems and Pinnacle Home adds additional coverage for parts and services to the Complete Home plan.
The other two plans, Simply HVAC and Essential Home, aren’t available for quotes online. We reached out to 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty and requested quotes for these two plans, but the company didn’t provide them. Instead, 2-10’s representative said by email that the plans will be changing in early 2026.

Appliance hardware. These include parts such as handles, hinges, latch assemblies, springs, and glass and ceramic cooktops.
Plumbing hardware. These include parts such as faucets, shower heads and tub spouts.
More electric features. These include attic and bathroom exhaust fans, a fire alarm system and a burglar alarm system.
Concealed issues. Interior plumbing and electrical issues that require a technician to cut into concrete, walls or floors.
Specific air conditioning coverage. This includes coverage for filters, electrical cut-off switches and refrigerant recovery and recharge.

2-10 Home Buyers optional coverage
The company has optional coverage that you can add for items that aren’t covered in your plan. As with most home warranties, each additional item adds to your monthly cost. You can add the following items to your coverage with 2-10:
An additional HVAC system.
A washer and dryer set for plans that don’t already cover one.
An additional refrigerator.
External and exterior pipe leaks and related parts.
Pool or spa equipment.
Limited roof leaks.
A septic system.
A water softener.
A well pump.
A garage door opener.
Seasonal HVAC tuneups.
Optional coverage changes
Additionally, 2-10 lets you make certain changes to your coverage that can lower your monthly cost.
Service Fee Options. Most other home warranty companies offer this feature as part of the payment process, but 2-10 considers this an optional coverage item. If you select the Service Fee Buy Down, your service fee drops from $85 to $65, and your monthly fee goes up. If you select the Service Fee Save up, your service fee increases from $85 to $100, and you save money on your monthly fee.
Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Save Up. You can remove coverage for your air conditioner and heating system to receive a discounted monthly price. But you can’t add the coverage back to your plan until you renew your plan after a year.
Optional coverage packages
You can also purchase packages that increase existing coverage in your plan.
Supreme Coverage. This optional coverage adds specific parts to already covered items in the Simply Kitchen or Complete Home plans, such as filters for HVAC systems and bathroom exhaust fans. It also pays for certain services, including disposal fees for replaced items.
Luxury Package. This option increases the amount 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty will pay total for approved repairs. In total, it adds $13,000 in coverage limits to your plan across the five major categories of items.
The Luxury Package is worth considering if you’re more concerned about how much 2-10 will pay for system repairs, especially with HVAC systems. But we don’t think it’s worth the extra cost if you’re wanting to increase coverage for only appliances because it only adds $1,000 of extra coverage for appliances.
How much does 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty cost?
Monthly fee
Plans start at $35 per month and go up to $69 per month.
To compare 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty pricing, we requested quotes for plans in three states that have different costs of living. We compared quotes for each of the three service fees on each plan to understand how pricing differs across each option as well.
Monthly cost range | Annual cost range | |
|---|---|---|
Simply Kitchen | $35.00-$41.00. | $420.00-$492.00. |
Complete Home | $55.00-$61.00. | $660.00-$732.00. |
Pinnacle Home | $69.00-$75.00. | $828.00-$900.00. |
When we attempted to purchase a plan online, our editorial team was unable to find an option to pay for a year of coverage with one payment; we could only pay with monthly payments. However, 2-10’s website says you can make one yearly payment for plans, so you’ll need to call the company to purchase a plan if you want to pay annually.

🚨 Nerd Alert 🚨 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty automatically renews your contract at the end of your contract if you don’t opt out of autorenewal. To opt out and avoid being charged for a new contract, you’ll need to call the company or email them at cancellations@2-10.com.
Service fee
Like most of its competitors, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty charges customers a service fee every time a technician responds to a claim. You can choose from $65, $85 or $100 service fees, and which service fee you choose affects your monthly fee.
How much you can save with a higher service fee. The quotes the NerdWallet editorial team got from 2-10’s website automatically selected the $100 service fee, which is the most expensive option and gave us the cheapest quote. When we selected the $85 service fee, our price increased $3 per month. If we chose the $65 service fee, the price went up $6 per month. For example, the Simply Kitchen plan had the following three quotes available, depending on which service fee our Home Services editorial team chose.
$100 service fee | $85 service fee | $65 service fee |
|---|---|---|
$35 per month. | $38 per month. | $41 per month. |
Is the higher service fee worth it? Choosing the $100 service fee over the $65 service fee saves you $6 per month, which is $72 a year in monthly fees. Regardless of how many service claims you have, you’re guaranteed to save that money on your monthly cost.
However, you pay $35 more each time a repair technician responds to a claim for your home. It’ll only take three service calls to spend more in service fees ($35 x 3 = $105) than you saved with the lower monthly fee. This would essentially cancel out any savings you had by choosing the higher service fee.
In this scenario, you would actually save $33 overall by going with the cheaper service fee and more expensive monthly fee. If you think you might need to file at least three claims during a one-year contract, it might save you money to go with the cheaper service fee and pay more each month.
👓 Spotted by the Nerds
As part of its guarantee, 2-10 Home Buyers the company advertises that it’ll refund a service fee if it decides your service request isn’t eligible for coverage. However, y You have to request a refund if your situation qualifies, but being able to get your service fee back is a unique feature that 2-10’s competitors don’t offer.
Even though 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty promises to refund or waive service fees in certain situations, the company’s sample contract states that “availability may vary by package and be subject to additional terms and conditions.”
Optional coverage costs
The optional items that you can add to 2-10’s plans are individually priced and increase your monthly plan fee. The NerdWallet editorial team researched costs for each add-on item in different cities and found that the only items that varied in price are the Supreme and Luxury packages. Some add-on items are unavailable with certain plans because they are already covered in those plans.

How much 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty pays for repair, aka coverage limits
Like most home warranty companies, 2-10 limits how much it pays for approved repairs. Some coverage limits increase if you add the Luxury Package to your plan.

HVAC surplus | $2,000 total with $1,500 for non electric or gas systems. |
Pre-season HVAC tune-up | Cost for approved tune-up items. |
Regardless of your plan and any add-on coverage that increases individual coverage limits, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty has an aggregate limit of $25,000. That means the company won’t pay more than that for one customer’s claims in a 12-month period.
When 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty refuses to pay for repairs, aka exclusions
Like most home warranty companies, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty covers items that malfunction because of normal wear and tear. This means the company won’t cover items that fail because of:
Lack of maintenance.
Physical damage.
Improper installation.
Natural disasters such as floods.
Damage caused by pests or animals.
The company also doesn’t cover required maintenance such as replacing HVAC filters or cosmetic issues that don’t affect how an item works.
The fine print in 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty’s contracts
Repair guarantee
The company’s workmanship guarantee stands out as well. Although most companies offer guarantees that an item won’t malfunction within 30 or 60 days of a repair, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty guarantees repairs for the term of your service agreement. That means if a repair fails while your service agreement is still active, you won’t pay another service fee when a technician returns to look at it again.
‘In lieu of repair’
Like many of its competitors, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty can choose to pay you directly instead of paying a contractor to repair your appliance or system. This is called payment in lieu of repair. There are different situations in which this can happen, but the most common ones include when repairing or replacing an item will cost more than the item’s coverage limit or a part or component is no longer available for your item.
As is common with most home warranty companies, 2-10’s policy allows them to pay you less than what you need to repair or replace an item when they choose payment in lieu of repair. The company is obligated to pay you only what it would’ve paid to repair the item, which might be less than what a company in your area will charge you.
And if the repair cost would be more than what remains of your coverage limit for the item’s category, 2-10 will pay you what’s left of your coverage limit. For example, if you’ve already used $1,000 of your $2,000 coverage limit for plumbing repairs, you have $1,000 left for plumbing repairs. If the company chooses to pay you in lieu of repair for a plumbing issue that will cost $1,500 to fix, it can give you $1,000 instead of $1,500 because that’s all the company is responsible for. You would have to pay the remaining $500 for the repair out of pocket.
🚨 Nerd Alert 🚨 Note that 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty can choose to offer you a replacement appliance that costs the same as what the company would’ve paid you in lieu of repair. Given its policy on how it calculates how much it pays you in this situation, the replacement item is likely to be a cheaper model than what you would purchase in a retail store.
Matching replacements
Although 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty has an Appliance Color Match feature, it doesn’t guarantee that it’ll match an appliance’s color when purchasing a replacement. The company is only required to try to match an old appliance’s primary function (such as microwaving food), capacity and efficiency. But when you get down to it, 2-10 doesn’t guarantee it’ll match an appliance’s size, dimension, brand or color, which is common with home warranty contracts.
Hauling away replaced items
The Pinnacle Home plan is the only plan that pays to haul off or dispose of replaced appliances or systems. If you have a different plan and want coverage for hauling away items that 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty replaces, you’ll have to add the Supreme package to your plan, which will increase your monthly fee.

What homeowners are saying about 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty
Reddit is an online forum where users share their thoughts in “threads” on various topics. The popular site includes plenty of discussion on financial subjects like home warranties, so we sifted through Reddit forums to get a pulse check on how users feel about 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. People post anonymously, so we cannot confirm their individual experiences or circumstances. We also researched consumer review websites, which contain reviews that we can’t verify.
Some happy customers note that the company is easy to work with and paid for needed repairs. However, our editorial team noticed that there were very few recent positive reviews on the consumer review websites that we researched. This leads us to believe that positive customer experiences aren’t as common as they were a few years ago.
When it comes to dissatisfied customers, some say they’ve had trouble getting the company to respond or had to wait longer than they thought was reasonable to have items repaired. Several reviews also noted that the repair technicians that were assigned either didn’t show up for appointments or did a poor job repairing items.
Several homeowners also mentioned that they’ve had to wait a long time when calling customer service or had representatives hang up on them or be unhelpful.
What to know before buying a home warranty
Reading the coverage and exclusions information in your contract is one of the most impactful things you can do to avoid costly misunderstandings in the future. You have a right to read your contract before purchasing a plan, and it’s important to understand that home warranties:
Always have exclusions to coverage, no matter what their sales pitches say. Read your contract carefully before purchasing a plan — especially anything listed as an exclusion or limit of liability. For example, a company might cover air conditioning systems but exclude certain parts or components, such as coils. Other companies cover plumbing repairs but won’t pay to clear all plumbing stoppages or repair certain types of leaks.
Are not a type of insurance. Even though some companies call their service fees deductibles, home warranties do not work the same way as insurance policies. They differ in what they cover and how they pay for repairs or replacements. A home warranty is not a supplement for homeowners insurance.
Limit how much they pay. If the cost of a repair or replacement goes beyond a limit stated in your contract, you’ll have to pay the difference. For example, if the bill for a repair is $2,000 and the limit is $1,500, you’re required to cover $500. This is in addition to your monthly premium and service fee.
Can deny your claim for several reasons. Examples include if you had work performed on a covered item without approval or you modified the system or appliance.
May not pay enough to cover the full cost of replacing a covered item. Home warranties often depreciate the value of items as they age, so you’ll likely have to pay at least some money to replace an item, even if it’s covered by the contract.
