The Edit is Chase's curated collection of more than 1,300 high-end hotels, spas and resorts worldwide that can be booked through the issuer's travel portal. Only those who hold the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ and the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card receive the program’s special benefits when booking Edit properties.
Many of these perks are similar to hotel elite status benefits, which can be especially valuable for travelers who may not have status with a specific brand or prefer booking independent properties.
If you have one of these premium cards or are considering applying, it's helpful to understand how The Edit works and how to get the most value from the program.

Properties that are part of The Edit display a special tag inside the Chase Travel portal when an eligible cardholder is logged in, designating that the property belongs to The Edit and is eligible for perks. The program is similar to American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts, offering negotiated benefits at luxury hotels and allowing guests to earn hotel points and elite credits.
Unlike American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts, which is only available to certain AmEx cardholders, all Chase cardmembers with Ultimate Rewards®-earning cards can view and book The Edit properties. However, only Reserve-tier cardholders see The Edit branding and receive perks on their stay.
The Edit organizes its properties into three distinct collections:
Hotel + Resort Collection (1,300+ hotels): High-end hotels and resorts in major cities and popular vacation destinations. Properties include elevated amenities like on-site restaurants, concierge services, spas and upscale room categories.
All-In Collection (30+ hotels): A mix of all-inclusive accommodations, ranging from wellness retreats to beachfront resorts and mountain lodges.
Unique Stay Collection (20+ hotels): Distinct, intimate stays such as beachside casitas, castles and riads.
Benefits vary by collection and can be booked using cash, Ultimate Rewards® points or a combination of both.
NerdWallet's ratings are determined by our editorial team. The scoring formula takes into account the type of card being reviewed (such as cash back, travel or balance transfer) and the card's rates, fees, rewards and other features.

Booking through The Edit provides several advantages, ranging from on-property perks, higher points earning (if paying with cash), elevated points redemption value through Points Boost (if using points) and the ability to earn hotel loyalty rewards.

Enhanced earnings and $500 annual statement credit
Cardholders with the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ and the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card earn 8 points per dollar on all purchases through Chase Travel, including bookings through The Edit.
They also receive a total of $500 in annual statement credits (in the form of two $250 credits) for prepaid stays of 2 nights or more.
Although The Edit’s terms suggest that bookings that apply the credits will not earn points, some travelers have reported otherwise.
When using Ultimate Rewards® points for a reservation that’s part of The Edit, eligible cardholders can redeem up to 2 cents per point through Points Boost. Although many view Points Boost as a devaluation relative to legacy redemption rates, it can still offer solid value when used for premium properties. (See example below.)
Bookings are eligible for hotel points and elite credit
Most hotel bookings made through Chase Travel do not earn hotel loyalty points or elite night credits. However, properties that are part of The Edit are an exception and will earn points and elite night credits with the respective loyalty program.
Not all Chase cards unlock the same level of benefits. While any Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards® points can access Chase's travel portal and view The Edit properties, only select cards provide access to The Edit's full perks, elevated redemption rates and annual statement credits.
Reserve-tier cards (eligible for The Edit benefits)
Only three Chase cards receive the full set of Edit perks, including on-property perks, Points Boost rates and the $250 credits:
To book a stay through The Edit, log in to your Chase account and navigate to Chase Travel. Select “Stays,” enter your destination, travel dates and number of travelers, then click the search icon to see available properties.
Alternatively, cardholders can call 1-855-234-2542 or the international number +1-504-324-2345 (charges may apply) to book by phone.
To illustrate what the process looks like, here’s an example search for a two-night stay in Edinburgh, Scotland, from Oct. 13–15. The first property in the results is shown below.
The Kimpton Charlotte Square by IHG is part of The Edit, qualifies for Edit benefits and Points Boost, and is eligible to earn IHG One Rewards points. Click on the listing to view room types and pricing.
On the room-selection page, the refundable rate is the only option available. It can be booked for $1,275 or 63,747 Ultimate Rewards®, reflecting the 2 cents-per-point redemption value through Points Boost. Select the room type you’d like and proceed to the next page to continue checking out.
During checkout, you will need to specify whether to pay now or later. If you select pay later, you must pay with a credit card. If you choose to pay now, you can pay entirely with your card, redeem points or use a mix of both.
What about booking through cards that don't get The Edit benefits?
If you have a card that earns Ultimate Rewards®, you can still book The Edit properties through Chase's travel portal — but you won't be eligible for The Edit benefits or Points Boost.
Here’s what the hotel above looks like in the search result when logged in with one of the Chase Freedom cards, for example.
The hotel appears without Edit branding, does not show included perks and is not eligible to earn IHG One Rewards.
Does booking through The Edit cost more?
Sometimes booking through The Edit costs more than booking the same stay directly; other times, it costs less. In the case of the Kimpton Charlotte Square by IHG, for example, you can see differences in rates for the same stay booked with a Chase Sapphire Reserve®, a Chase Freedom card or directly on the IHG website.
Here’s how the rates compare in this instance:
Nonrefundable
Refundable + breakfast
Earn IHG One Rewards
The Edit rate
N/A
$1,275.
Yes.
Non-Edit rate
$1,147.
$1,380.
No.
IHG rate
$1,104.
$1,328.
Yes.
The Edit rate includes breakfast and is refundable, so that’s the baseline comparison. In this example, The Edit rate ($1,275) is cheaper than booking the same refundable breakfast-included rate through IHG ($1,328) or with a non-Reserve Chase card ($1,380). Booking directly with IHG offers the lowest nonrefundable rate ($1,104) and also earns IHG One Rewards points, which is a benefit The Edit rate also provides.
Travelers who book nonrefundable rates and don’t need breakfast (or already receive it through elite status) will find the lowest price by booking directly with IHG, in this case. But those with a Reserve-tier credit card who value breakfast for two, a $100 property credit, a room upgrade and flexible checkout, will receive all those benefits for $171 more than the nonrefundable direct rate. In addition, the booking would earn 8 points per dollar and still collect IHG One Rewards points.
Hotel perks can be worth it
The Edit rates won’t always be the cheapest option, but they can offer strong value for travelers with a Reserve-tier card who want premium hotel perks without relying on elite status. Breakfast for two, a property credit, upgrade priority and the ability to earn hotel loyalty rewards can meaningfully improve a stay, especially at higher-end properties. As always, compare Edit pricing with the hotel’s direct rate to see which option delivers the best overall deal for your trip.
