We believe everyone should be able to make financial decisions with
confidence. While we don't cover every company or financial product on
the market, we work hard to share a wide range of offers and objective
editorial perspectives.
So how do we make money? Our partners compensate us for advertisements that
appear on our site. This compensation helps us provide tools and services -
like free credit score access and monitoring. With the exception of
mortgage, home equity and other home-lending products or services, partner
compensation is one of several factors that may affect which products we
highlight and where they appear on our site. Other factors include your
credit profile, product availability and proprietary website methodologies.
However, these factors do not influence our editors' opinions or ratings, which are based on independent research and analysis. Our partners cannot
pay us to guarantee favorable reviews. Here is a list of our partners.
The Complete Guide to Enterprise Plus
Enterprise Plus members get upgrades and points-earning perks. They can even choose to earn airline miles instead.
Sally French is co-host of the Smart Travel podcast and a writer on NerdWallet's travel team. Before joining NerdWallet as a travel rewards expert in 2020, she wrote about travel and credit cards for The New York Times and its sibling site, Wirecutter.
Outside of work, she loves fitness, and she competes in both powerlifting and weightlifting (she can deadlift more than triple bodyweight). Naturally, her travels always involve a fitness component, including a week of cycling up the coastline of Vietnam and a camping trip to the Arctic Circle, where she biked over the sea ice. Other adventures have included hiking 25 miles in one day through Italy's Cinque Terre and climbing the 1,260 steps to Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi, Thailand.
She lives in San Francisco.

Look, rental car loyalty programs aren't exactly thrilling. But if you're going to rent cars anyway, you might as well get something back. Enterprise Plus is free to join, and if you rent with any regularity, the perks actually add up.
It's straightforward: spend $1, get 1 point. That's it. Like hotel loyalty programs, you must book directly with Enterprise to qualify for benefits.
A few things won't count toward your points:
Bookings through third-party sites like Expedia or Orbitz (book directly with Enterprise).
Rentals using pre-negotiated corporate discounts.
Tour package rentals.
CarShare locations.
🤓Nerdy Tip
Since they share ownership, Enterprise and National Car Rental have an alliance of sorts, which means you can also book cars with National at participating locations in the U.S. and have those points count toward Enterprise Plus earnings. Just make sure your Enterprise Plus membership number is listed as the preferred frequent travel program within your National Emerald Club profile.
Enterprise is running a promotion called Plus Your Points that gives you double points on every rental through February 28, 2026. It started October 29, and you need to register at plusyourpoints.enterprise.com to get in on it.
If you're planning any rentals between now and late February, this is a no-brainer. You'll hit that 600-point free rental threshold twice as fast.
The promotion also includes:
Spin to Win – A weekly game on your dashboard where you can win bonus points (exactly as gimmicky as it sounds, but hey, free points)
Badge challenges – Little bonuses for doing specific things, like booking 15 days in advance (75 points) or renting from a neighborhood location on a weekend (another 75 points)
It's available in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Spain and Germany.
What is Enterprise Plus elite status?
Enterprise Plus has three tiers: Silver, Gold and Platinum. The perks are modest but not nothing.

How do you redeem Enterprise Plus points?
Free rentals start at 600 points, which means you need to spend $600 to get your first freebie (or $300 if you register for that double points promo).
🤓Nerdy Tip
One of the best features of Enterprise Plus is that there are no blackout dates, which means you can redeem your points like cash without worrying about there being a roadblock in the process.
Points expire after 36 months of inactivity, but any rental or points-earning activity (including that Plus Your Points promotion) resets the clock. If points go missing after a rental, you have six months to file a claim online.
If you don’t rent cars often and prefer not to earn Enterprise Plus points, the program can still deliver solid value. Enterprise Plus members can choose to earn frequent flyer miles instead. Enterprise’s four travel partners are:

Should you purchase Enterprise Plus’ insurance plan?
Rental car insurance can be an expensive addition, especially over multiple days. But if you have a credit card that offers primary car rental insurance, you may not need to pay even more. Review the fine print of your card because you may already have insurance included if you use that card to pay for the rental.
Both programs are free, and since Enterprise owns National, there's overlap. Here's the deal:
Enterprise Plus is simpler—you earn points, you spend points.
Emerald Club has better perks (free additional drivers, automatic upgrades in Europe, faster counter bypass) but uses a credit system that's slightly more confusing.
Enterprise Plus costs you nothing and takes two minutes to sign up. If you rent cars more than once or twice a year, you'll eventually earn a free rental day.
With the double points promotion running until late February, now's actually a decent time to register—especially if you have holiday travel coming up.
Minimum age is 21. Sign up at enterprise.com or plusyourpoints.enterprise.com if you want to register for the current promotion.
