As of May 9, the card has officially added two new bonus categories, on top of its existing rewards at U.S. supermarkets and U.S. gas stations. They are as follows:

  • 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming services. This includes Hulu, Netflix, Spotify and Pandora.

  • 3% cash back on transit. This includes rideshares, tolls, taxis, buses, trains and parking fees.

  • Terms apply.

The card's $0 intro for the first year, then $95 annual fee isn't changing, but it is losing its 3% bonus rewards on eligible U.S. department store purchases. A company spokesperson confirmed existing cardholders will continue to earn that rate until July 31. The card will still earn 6% back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 spent per year (then 1% back), as well as 3% back at U.S. gas stations. All other spending still earns 1% back. Terms apply.

The refreshed Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express comes with a welcome offer: a Limited Time Offer: Earn a $300 statement credit after you spend $3,000 in purchases on your new Card within the first 6 months. Offer Expires 12/10/2020. Terms Apply.
