AmEx Offer: Up to $30 Off Your First Uber Ride Through July

If you've considered trying Uber but have yet to take the plunge, American Express is offering an incentive that might prime the pump.
For a limited time, eligible AmEx cardholders can score a discount of up to $30 off their first Uber ride.
The offer is only for new Uber users. To take advantage of it, you must download the Uber app and create an account. Within the app, you can add an eligible credit card as your payment method, and then select "Add Promo/Gift Code." Enter the promotional code UBERAMEX. Then simply request your ride.
Even if you don't have anywhere to be right this minute, don't worry. You can save the code and use it later. Just make sure you do so before the offer expires July 31, 2018.
Also, keep these promotional rules in mind:
If your Uber ride costs less than $30, then that's the amount of your discount. For example, if that first ride costs you $25, you get only $25 off — you won't be getting the $5 difference back, and it won't roll over to the next ride. So if you're just headed down the street a few blocks, maybe just hoof it and save this promotion for a longer trip.
You're not required to tip your Uber driver, but if you decide to do so through your Uber app, the $30 discount can't go toward that purpose
You can't combine this promotion with other offers from Uber
"uberT" rides are excluded
