Which Credit Card Issuers Let You Track Welcome Bonus Progress?
Credit card bonus trackers can help you monitor how close you are to earning your offer, and how much time you have left to do so. Many credit cards from top issuers offer them.

Many credit cards offer valuable welcome bonuses that can earn new cardholders hundreds of dollars in rewards. Generally, there'll be spending requirements and time frames for earning bonuses, which means it's important to track your spending and how much time you have to meet those requirements.
Tracking your bonus manually — on a spreadsheet, for example — is certainly one way to do it. But several credit card issuers also offer tracking tools in-app or through their online portals that can help cardholders monitor their progress toward earning their bonuses. Some of these trackers are more robust than others, while some are offered only for certain cards by an issuer. (And some issuers don’t offer bonus trackers at all.)
Here’s what to know.
Major issuers and welcome bonus tracking
American Express
American Express doesn’t feature an online tracker for its welcome bonus offers. However, you can always contact the issuer to request information about your card’s welcome offer and your progress toward earning it.
And while you can’t track welcome bonus offers specifically, you can track progress toward other kinds of American Express offers on eligible cards. Plus, the issuer offers spending trackers that help cardholders manage their transactions. See NerdWallet’s top American Express credit cards.
Bank of America®
Bank of America® doesn’t provide a bonus tracker for cardholders. However, mobile banking users can track their monthly spending by category with the bank’s virtual financial assistant tools. This can help you manage your spending and stay on track as you work toward your bonus. You’ll need to put in a little bit more work, though, because you won’t have an automated bonus tracker to help you. See NerdWallet’s top Bank of America credit cards.
Barclays
Cardholders can track their progress toward their bonus in a couple of ways. The issuer offers a bonus tracker — available for 90% of Barclays bonus offers, according to a spokesperson for the issuer — that displays what bonus a cardholder is spending toward, how much they’ve made in purchases, and how many days they have left to meet the bonus spending requirement. When a cardholder makes a purchase that counts toward their bonus, the tracker is automatically updated. Cardholders can find the tracker displayed in the “Featured benefits” section of their accounts, which is located in the “Rewards” hub.
In addition to the bonus tracker, Barclays sends email and app notifications to card members with information about their progress toward earning their welcome bonus. The notifications also include clickable links that take cardholders directly to the Featured benefits section where they can see their bonus tracker. See NerdWallet’s top Barclays credit cards.
Capital One
New Capital One cardholders can track their progress toward their bonus in the issuer’s mobile app or online. With the tracker, cardholders can see how much time they have to meet their bonus and how much more they’re required to spend to do so. See NerdWallet’s top Capital One credit cards.
Chase
Holders of any Chase branded or co-branded credit cards can track their welcome bonus progress directly through the Chase app. On the tracker, you can see your welcome offer, how much time you have left to earn the bonus and how much you have left to meet the spend terms. The tracker is located in your “Benefits Hub.” See NerdWallet’s top Chase credit cards.
Citi
Citi cardholders can track their welcome bonuses in the Citi mobile app or on Citi.com. The tracker is available for all Citi cards that are eligible for welcome bonuses and can be found on the “Credit Cards” dashboard within the Citi app or website. See NerdWallet’s top Citi credit cards.
Discover
Several Discover cards feature unique welcome bonuses for new cardholders, which Discover phrases this way: "INTRO OFFER: Unlimited Cashback Match for all new cardmembers – only from Discover. Discover will automatically match all the cash back you’ve earned at the end of your first year! There’s no minimum spending or maximum rewards. You could turn $150 cash back into $300."
This means that unlike other bonus offers that have shorter time frames and specific spending requirements, you won’t have to keep track of your bonus offer with Discover. At the end of your first year of having your card, you’ll get your bonus offer in the form of a cash-back match.
The Discover mobile app does offer a way for cardholders to track their progress toward earning rotating quarterly cash-back bonuses and miles. And like other credit card mobile apps, Discover offers a spend analyzer tool, which organizes your spending by category and allows you to track your monthly spending. See NerdWallet’s top Discover credit cards.
U.S. Bank
U.S. Bank’s welcome offer tracker is available for all of the issuer’s consumer credit cards. Cardholders can see the tracker online in their customer dashboard and in the U.S. Bank mobile app. Additionally, users can find links directly to the bonus tracker through the onboarding email sent during account opening and through notifications sent to card members.
The tracker displays what the bonus you’re working toward is, how much more you must spend to receive the bonus, and when the offer expires. See NerdWallet’s top U.S. Bank credit cards.
Wells Fargo
If you’re a new Wells Fargo cardholder, you can track your progress toward earning your welcome bonus through the issuer’s online banking portal, both on mobile and desktop. The tracker provides information about the bonus requirements, plus how much time you have to earn it. You can find the tracker in your account details page and through a digital onboarding page that you receive in your online banking portal within 60 days of opening your card. See NerdWallet’s top Wells Fargo credit cards.
