The Best Marriott Hotels for 50,000 Points
These properties are a great redemption value for free night certificates and points alike.

The Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program has a portfolio of brands that spans categories and destinations. You can find everything from extended stay and city hotels to resorts and all-inclusive destinations. But without an award chart, navigating how many points you need to save for a redemption night can be challenging.
By using dynamic pricing, Marriott changes the number of points needed for an award night based on the date of travel, the destination and local demand. As a result, some nights, including during the same multinight stay, may cost fewer points than another night. We recommend using the helpful calendar feature on Marriott’s website to find the cheapest nights that work within your time frame. Sometimes, shifting your date by a night or two can save a substantial number of points.
We found some of the top properties you can book for 50,000 points or fewer as well as where you can spend the 50,000-point free night certificates that come with Marriott co-branded credit cards.
JW Marriott El Convento Cusco, Peru

This is one of several Marriott properties in Peru that offers solid value for redeeming points or using a free night certificate. Many nights feature stays for below 50,000 points, where you can take part in free pisco sour tasting each day, enjoy a tour of the historic ruins beneath the hotel or play with the resident alpaca during your stay. And how often can you say that you spent the night in a former convent? On the nights we checked, the lowest redemption rates were going for 44,000 points a night although this depends on the month of the year.

Madrid Marriott Hotel Princesa Plaza

The Spanish capital has plenty of Marriott properties at different price points, but this hotel is its newest. And its location along Calle Princesa with great views of Gran Via give it the ideal spot for tourists. From here, you can visit many of the best restaurants, theaters and shops in town, especially around Plaza de España, or keep going to reach the Royal Palace and the Golden Triangle of Art. On the dates we checked, the lowest redemption rates were going for 42,000 points per night.
Al-Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Muscat, Oman

This desert oasis features a beautiful seafront location backed by towering mountains and the same service for which the Ritz-Carlton brand is known. Onsite activities include a playground, numerous pools and a lovely spa. For only 47,000 points per night at the lowest amount on the dates we checked, this is a fantastic resort option for those that want to combine culture and sunshine into one stay.
Marriott Mena House, Cairo

Expect rates to drop to 44,000 points a night, at least on the dates we checked, for a luxury hotel right next to the Pyramids of Giza. In fact, guests enjoy private access to the pyramids long after the crowds have gone. From here, you are a short taxi ride to famous sites like the new Egyptian Museum and the Sphinx. The hotel also has a beautiful pool and spa, which are in the peace and quiet of this hotel outside of the main city center.
W Sydney

Rates at the world’s largest W hotel drop down to 46,000 points on some nights during the dates we checked. The cool factor is in full swing here with colorful guest rooms, DJs in the lounge and a happening pool scene all within the heart of Darling Harbour. On top of that (literally), there is a duplex rooftop bar that draws plenty of attention.
JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort & Spa, Costa Rica

This ocean-facing resort has rates as low as 46,400 points on the nights we checked. It sits within Hacienda Pinilla, Costa Rica, and offers oceanview rooms as well as a swimming pool that seems to spill directly into the ocean. Aside from enjoying the water, guests can enjoy bike trails, horseback riding, yoga classes and other watersport activities.
Walt Disney World Swan, Florida

Part of the Westin brand, the Walt Disney World Swan resort is popular for families looking to be close to Orlando’s Disney parks. On the dates we checked, we found redemption rates as low as 36,000 points. The property sits within the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resort complex, and it is just walking between Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Free transportation runs around the Walt Disney World Resort, adding to the value here.
Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, Hawaii

Many travelers might not expect to find a resort in Hawaii on the list, but this Big Island hotel has many nights a year when its redemption rates drop below 50,000 points. On some of the dates we checked, we found rates as low as 46,400 points. With three 9-hole golf courses, an impressive spa, numerous swimming pools, waterslides and beachfront access, this property is a fan favorite, especially following its recent renovations.

How to know if you’re getting a good deal on your Marriott points booking
According to the latest NerdWallet valuations, Marriott Bonvoy points are worth, on average 0.8 cent each. This calculation is based on actual redemption comparisons when paying with either cash or points. By doing so, you can get a cash value for the number of points used.
A good deal means that when dividing the number of points needed for the redemption by the cash price, you arrive at a value that is greater than0.8 cent per point. If you do the math and the result is less than that, you might consider paying for your stay in cash and saving your points for a better redemption in the future.
And don’t forget, when you redeem four nights at a Marriott family property using points, the fifth night is free. This is another fantastic way to secure extra value in a redemption. So if staying several nights, consider extending to five instead of four to take advantage of this benefit.
Use the calculator below to determine the value of a particular number of Bonvoy points you have in your account.
These Marriott hotspots can cost fewer than 50,000 points
There are plenty of fantastic redemption options in popular destinations where you can score a redemption of under 50,000 points if you are flexible with your dates.
And since the free night certificates that come with most co-branded Marriott credit cards are valid for redemptions of 50,000 points or fewer, the calendar search feature can also come in handy. Marriott also allows you to pay as many as 15,000 additional points to top up the certificate and use it for redemption nights of up to 65,000 points.
This list of urban and resort destinations can help inspire you for your next vacation and shows that top-tier properties sometimes do have lower redemption rates.
