If you own a small business startup and haven’t heard of the Brex Card, the company has just launched a big initiative to get your attention: Travel benefits that offer your small shop rates previously only available to larger companies.
The Brex Card, which has positioned itself in the market as a charge card that doesn’t require the business owner to personally guarantee debt, has announced some upgrades to its new rewards program, Brex Travel.
Access to corporate rates on travel
Most notably, cardholders will now enjoy the benefits of TravelBank, a business travel platform where members can access corporate rates that, until now, were available almost exclusively to large businesses.
Small businesses or startups might not book as much travel as bigger companies with greater headcounts and cash flow, explains Duke Chung, CEO of TravelBank. That often means these businesses can’t access the best rates or perks that come with frequent travel and spending. With the Brex Card upgrade, they now can.
Bigger point payouts for travel
The Brex Card has upped its points payouts for travel bookings, too. Cardholders will earn 4 points per dollar spent with Brex Travel, up from 3 points per dollar. This portal is also where members redeem points for travel rewards.
Another plus: cardholders will have access to TravelBank’s 24/7 concierge to help organize travel for their employees or clients.
A unique formula for determining credit limits
The Brex Card doesn’t require the owner to personally assume liability for the charges. The owner doesn’t even need to provide a Social Security number to apply. Instead, the Brex Card determines eligibility by looking at the business’s cash flow. This means that the owner’s personal credit score isn’t part of the calculation.
Business owners might also be able to get a higher credit limit on the Brex Card than they could with a traditional card because limits are determined by the business’s operations instead of the formulas other banks use.
The Brex Card is not a credit card. It’s a charge card you have to pay off in full every month. For some small startups, especially companies that want to save money on travel, it could be just the ticket.
