Best Credit Cards for Streaming Services of December 2024
Updated: Dec 10, 2024+ 2 more+ 2 more
Video and music streaming services have become a popular bonus category on credit cards as media consumption patterns change. Where streaming subscriptions once fell into the "everything else" bucket that didn't qualify for bonus points or cash back, streaming is increasingly called out for rewards of 3%, 5% and even higher. Streaming might not be the sole reason to get a particular card, but it's a nice complementary category, for sure.

Our Take
This card offers bonus rewards on travel, a magnificent welcome offer, a bevy of high-end perks and more than $1,500 a year in available statement credits toward eligible purchases in the categories of travel, entertainment, dining, retail and wellness. That includes up to $20 in statement credits per month (for a total of $240 per calendar year) that can be applied toward eligible subscriptions for Peacock, the Wall Street Journal, Disney+, The Disney Bundle, ESPN+, Hulu and The New York Times. Our Take
Ease of use prevails: You earn 2% cash back on every purchase, so you never have to wonder whether a particular expense will qualify for bonus rewards for streaming or anything else. There's a great bonus offer and a 0% intro APR period. And speaking of subscriptions: Put your wireless bill on the card and enjoy automatic cell phone protection.
The simplicity comes with a trade-off: You could earn higher rewards on streaming (and in other specific categories) with a different card.
Every single streaming service qualifies for the highest rewards rate on the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card. That's because every purchase you make with the card earns 2% cash back. It's a simple card for an increasingly complicated streaming landscape.

Our Take
Unlike with some other cards, you don't have to activate or choose your bonus categories. You earn 5% cash back on up to $500 spent in your highest-spending category per billing cycle from a list of eligible options (streaming services, restaurants, gas stations, drugstores, home improvement stores, fitness clubs, select travel, select transit and live entertainment). Other spending earns 1%. There's a good sign-up bonus and a solid 0% intro APR period.
The 5% rewards apply in only one category. If you use the card for all your expenses, you might end up earning only 1% on streaming because you spent more elsewhere. That's not necessarily a bad thing — after all, you want more spending to qualify for higher rewards. But it does mean streaming spending isn't guaranteed to earn 5%.
The Citi Custom Cash® Card automatically earns 5% cash back on the eligible category in which you spend the most money, with select streaming services being one of those categories (see full list of qualifying services below).
Customizable 5% cash back
With the U.S. Bank Cash+® Visa Signature® Card, you choose your own 5% cash back categories from a list every quarter. Those options have included "TV, internet and streaming services" (see more info on eligible services below).
Product Details
- $200 rewards bonus after spending $1,000 in eligible purchases within the first 90 days of account opening.
- 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in combined eligible purchases each quarter on two categories you choose.
- 5% cash back on prepaid air, hotel and car reservations booked directly in the Rewards Travel Center.
- 2% cash back on one everyday category like Gas Stations and EV Charging Stations, or Grocery Stores (excludes discount stores/supercenters and wholesale clubs).
- 1% cash back on all other eligible purchases.
- 0% Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 15 billing cycles. After that, a variable APR currently 18.74% - 28.99%.
- No Annual Fee
- Terms and conditions apply.
- View Rates & Fees
Our Take
You earn 5% cash back on two categories of your choice from a list of options (on up to $2,000 spent per quarter on combined purchases); 2% back on an everyday category of your choice, such as gas, groceries or restaurants; and 1% back on other purchases. Newcomers can also earn a great bonus. You can optimize this card for entertainment by making your second 5% bonus category something like fast food or movie theaters and pick restaurants as your 2% category.
This is a high-maintenance card. You must keep track of multiple bonus categories — plus a spending cap — and remember to opt in to those bonus categories every quarter.
With the U.S. Bank Cash+® Visa Signature® Card, you choose your own 5% cash back categories from a list every quarter. Those options have included "TV, internet and streaming services" (see more info on eligible services below).

WHAT CARD DO YOU USE FOR STREAMING?
I don’t spend much on streaming, but I put these purchases on my U.S. Bank Cash+® . I give this card the sole task of earning 5% back on utilities and TV, internet and streaming services. It’s one way that I keep track of my spending in these categories.

WHAT CARD DO YOU USE FOR STREAMING?
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express. Although the supermarket rewards get all the attention, the cash back I earn on my streaming subscriptions actually more than pays me back for the annual fee.

WHAT CARD DO YOU USE FOR STREAMING?
I use streaming subscriptions as a way to keep otherwise dormant cards active. I put the cards on autopay and keep them in a drawer. So, I suppose my answer is "miscellaneous."
