Other great business credit cards for travel

The following cards are not available through NerdWallet. We still recommend them if they fit your business's needs.
NerdWallet star rating: 5
This card comes with a slew of valuable perks for businesses that regularly fly American. In addition to bonus points on flights, gas, rental cars and telecom service, you'll also get free checked bags, preferred boarding and in-flight discounts. Cardholders also get a companion certificate when they spend $30,000 or more in a year (and renew their card membership). The certificate can be redeemed for $99, plus taxes and fees, on any domestic flight.
NerdWallet star rating: 4.7
The main selling point of this card: You earn 2X points on all spending, plus 2.5X points on up to $5,000 in mobile wallet purchases each quarter. You'll also earn elevated rewards on hotels and rental cars booked via the U.S. Bank Rewards Center and can snag a nice welcome offer if you hit spending requirements. But you'll have to hit it on your main card — purchases on employee cards don't count toward the welcome bonus spending requirement.

How we chose the best business travel credit cards

NerdWallet's editorial team evaluates business credit cards on more than a dozen factors. For business travel options, we pay close attention to:
  • Base rewards rate.
  • Bonus category reward rates.
  • Redemption value of points/miles for travel.
  • Credits for programs like TSA PreCheck®.
  • Perks like airport lounge access.
Business cards need to earn at least 4.5 stars to make our list. We also consider cards below that number if they have standout features. For instance, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card (4.2 stars) is a rare business travel card with no annual fee.
Business cards that earn 5 stars are considered exceptional. These cards are best-in-class and deliver the most value for the greatest number of business owners.
Business cards that earn 4.0 to 4.9 stars are good to excellent. They deliver excellent value and might be the best choice for certain businesses, depending on your needs and spending habits.
Business cards that earn 3.0 to 3.9 stars are fine business cards. You'll get some value out of using them, to be sure, but there are other cards that offer better rewards.
Business cards that earn below 3 stars are considered subpar and would generally not be recommended by NerdWallet.

Which business travel credit cards we consider

NerdWallet's editorial team focuses on travel cards widely available to business owners. Niche options may not make our best overall list because of their limited appeal. But we still analyze them. After all, they may be solid for you. For instance the Atmos™ Rewards Visa Signature® Business card has a lot to offer frequent flyers of Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
We categorize a card as "business travel" if its rewards come as points or miles. This includes co-branded hotel and airline business cards. Points and miles offer the most value when you redeem them for travel. While you can use a cash-back business card for such expenses, you won't get the same bang for your buck. (That's especially true if you don't mind strategically transferring points to travel partners.)
Our team has covered or considered the following cards in 2025 (listed alphabetically by name):
A
Atmos™ Rewards Visa Signature® Business card. American Express Blue for Business Plus. American Express® Business Gold Card. American Express Business Platinum.
B
Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card. BILL Divvy Corporate Card. Brex Card.
C
Capital One Spark Miles for Business. Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business. Capital One Venture X Business. Chase Ink Business Preferred. Chase Ink Business Premier. Chase United Business. Citi AAdvantage Business.
D

🧾 What's new with business travel cards?
January 2026: Chase reverted the annual fee structure for its United℠ Business Card. Instead of $0 for the first year and $150 thereafter, you pay $150 from the jump. That matches how the card's annual fee worked prior to May 2025. Even with the increase, we still think this is a valuable airline card for United fans. (Chase also upped the welcome offer, which helps with that.)
December 2025: Chase added 5X total points on Lyft rides through 9/30/27 to the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. That elevated rate was previously available on a couple of the issuer's cash-back business cards. Including it on the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card amps up the potential value, especially if you rely on ride-share while traveling for business.
November 2025: Capital One rolled out a massive limited-time welcome offer for the Capital One Venture X Business. Our editorial team tracks business credit card sign-up bonuses. This is the biggest one we've seen for this card. (And potentially, for any card.) (Editor's note: This offer ended in January 2026.)
September 2025: American Express increased the fee of the American Express Business Platinum to $895. It's once again the most expensive business credit card we track. The issuer introduced new perks to help offset that bigger price tag. Whether they actually will or not depends on the cardholder. Read our full write-up.

What is a business travel credit card?

A business travel card earns you miles or points when you make purchases. You'll typically maximize those rewards by redeeming them for travel — often via an issuer's built-in travel portal.
Sometimes, cards have bonuses for travel-related spending. For instance, the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ earns 8X points on airline tickets, hotels, car rentals, cruises, activities and tours bought via Chase Travel℠.
But travel cards can reward other business expenses, too. The American Express® Business Gold Card is an especially good option for ad spend, for instance. You can get 4X points on your first $150,000 in eligible purchases (terms apply).
Business travel cards may also have benefits ideal for life on the road. Common perks include entry into airport lounges, automatic elite status at specific hotel chains and car rental discounts.

What types of business travel credit cards are there?

Business travel credit cards primarily fall into two buckets: general and co-branded.
  • General business travel cards. These offer points that you can cash in for flights, rental cars and hotel stays. You may also be able to transfer those points to select airline and hotel loyalty programs. Examples include the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card and the Capital One Spark Miles for Business.
  • Co-branded business travel cards. These earn you the most rewards — and get the most juice for points/miles — with a specific brand. Major airlines (like Delta) and hotels (like Hilton) have co-branded business cards.
General business travel cards are great for flexible, easy-to-redeem rewards. But if you're loyal to a specific hotel or airline chain, you'll probably find its cards more valuable.

Should you use a corporate card for business travel?

Corporate cards can make sense if you have many employees and they travel often. You can issue employee cards and track spending with traditional business cards. But corporate options level up those controls.
From a travel perspective, the big benefit with many corporate cards is their built-in expense management. Software features like automatic receipt matching and submission reminders can make reconciliation and reimbursement easy.
The tradeoff? You won't always get a ton of other perks, like a cache of points. Our top corporate card for business travel (the Brex Card) is an exception. It's also hard to qualify for. Learn more about corporate cards.

How much are credit cards for business travel?

Expect to pay at least a $95 annual fee for a business travel card. Some cards may waive this fee in your first year, but few don't charge you at all. The only no-annual-fee business travel cards we track are the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card and the Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business.
A number of issuers offer premium cards with fees to match. There's been a race to the top in 2025. Chase launched the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ at $795. A few months later, the American Express Business Platinum raised its annual fee to $895.

Why are business travel cards expensive?

Pricey business travel cards include perks and credits that add to the card's overall value. Examples include:
  • Airport lounge access. The Business Platinum Card® from American Express will get you into more than 1,550 worldwide, for instance. It's one of the best business cards for lounge access.
  • Trusted traveler program credits. It's common to find reimbursement for programs like Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, Nexxus and Clear. Such credits may save you hundreds of dollars (not to mention time in the airport).
  • General travel credits. These can take a big bite out of annual fees by themselves. For instance, the Capital One Venture X Business offers an annual $300 credit for bookings made through Capital One Business Travel. That is $95 less than the card's annual fee (see ).
  • Automatic elite status. This is a perk of most hotel cards. It can be a draw for frequent guests, particularly when that status means complimentary room upgrades and late checkout.
  • Airline-specific benefits. Pretty much everything costs extra when you fly. A co-branded card may reduce those costs with things like free checked bags, in-flight discounts and companion certificates.
Many premium business travel cards have also adopted a so-called "coupon book" style. These discounts or credits are less versatile. You'll need to shop with a specific vendor (like Dell) or use a specific service (like ZipRecruiter) to get that money.

Nerdy Tip
The annual fee on your business credit card can be tax deductible if you use the card exclusively for business purposes.

What other travel benefits do business cards offer?

No foreign transaction fee should be table stakes for a business travel credit card. This is a must for international travelers. Using a travel card overseas shouldn't cost you extra.
Other travel-related benefits will vary by card. If you pay for a premium card, expect more from it. For instance, the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ includes:
  • Trip delay reimbursements.
  • Trip cancellation and interruption insurance.
  • Baggage delay/lost luggage insurance.
  • Emergency medical and dental reimbursements.
  • Emergency evacuation and transportation due to injury or sickness.
You'll hopefully use such perks far less than ones like airport lounge access. But travel headaches will happen — especially if you're on the road a lot for business. View a card's complete terms to understand what peace of mind it offers.

Should you use a cash-back card for business travel?

You won't maximize your rewards using a cash-back business card for travel. But that might be OK if you value simplicity or don't travel often. Most cash-back cards have no annual fee, so there's little downside to getting them.
The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card is our editorial team's pick for best business credit card. In part, that's because it earns Chase Ultimate Rewards®. You can redeem those rewards for cash back or travel via the Chase portal. That at least gives you a little flexibility.

What is the best business credit card for airline miles?

If you're loyal to a specific airline, your best bet will be its co-branded card. You can quickly rack up airline miles and status with options like United℠ Business Card or the Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card.
Looking for a general business travel card? We think the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card offers a lot of value given its $95 annual fee. You earn 3 points per $1 on the first $150,000 spent on all travel. Other cards can earn you more miles, but they'll cost you more. You'll likely need to use an issuer's travel portal, too. Those may not have the best prices or flight selections.

Methodology

NerdWallet's writers and editors monitor more than 70 business credit cards to select the best options without outside input from partners or other business interests. We evaluate business cards based on value and simplicity, weighing fees, sign-up bonuses and reward rates, alongside perks like interest-free periods, statement credits and elite status (for travel cards).
We consider more than 20 data points for each card we score, including detailed information about rewards, credits and fees. We gather this information from rates and fees documents, deposit account agreements, financial institution websites and company representatives.
Our editorial team regularly reviews and updates our data to ensure consistency and accuracy. We also update our scoring on an ongoing basis to reflect changing industry norms and business owner needs. For instance, in 2026, we added a small deduction for cards that don’t allow users to issue virtual cards and removed the small increase for cards with no preset spending limit.
Final star ratings range from one to five stars. A five-star score represents the best available product for the largest number of business owners. Learn how NerdWallet rates small-business credit cards.
