This offer has expired

The limited-time offer described in this article has expired. For the current offer, see our details page for the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card.

The sign-up bonus on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card is making like a songbird: heading north in the spring.

For new applications received, the card is sweetening its welcome perks. It describes the new bonus like this: “FOR A LIMITED TIME – Buy one ticket, get one for just the taxes and fees with Alaska’s Famous Companion Fare™ ($0 fare plus taxes and fees from just $22) after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening. There are no blackout dates. Get 30,000 bonus miles after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening.”

The previous version of the sign-up bonus allowed you to earn 30,000 bonus miles after making $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of account opening, but it didn’t come with the two-for-one deal.

Miles are worth 1.3 cents each, on average, according to NerdWallet’s valuation, making this portion of the bonus worth $390. With the limited time offer, the card’s bonus could easily be worth $1,000 or more.

For an annual fee of $75, the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card comes with plenty of perks:

  • One companion fare ticket each year on your account anniversary, starting from $121 ($99, plus taxes and fees starting at $22). This is in addition to the two-for-one ticket. Companion fare tickets are valid on Alaska flights booked on alaskaair.com.
  • A free checked bag on Alaska flights for you and up to six other passengers on the same reservation
  • No foreign transaction fees

Depending on your creditworthiness, the issuer might send you a slightly different version of this card with a smaller annual fee and lower ongoing rewards. Read more about the card’s benefits on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card details page and NerdWallet’s full editorial review.
