Overall, the Nerds think this is a solid card. In particular, we recommend it to folks who will take advantage of the opportunities it offers to earn extra points on NFL purchases and redeem them for NFL-related items or experiences. One other thing: You don’t need sterling credit to qualify for the NFL Extra Points Credit Card. So if you’re trying to build or rebuild your credit score and are looking for a decent rewards card, this one might be just the ticket.
The NFL Extra Points Credit Card makes it easy to support your favorite team
Part of being a football fan is showing your support for your favorite team. The NFL Extra Points Credit Card makes this easy, no matter what time of year it is.
For one thing, Barclaycard (the bank that issues the NFL Extra Points Credit Card) will allow you to get your NFL team’s logo printed on the card. With all 32 teams available, it’ll be obvious which one you’re supporting every time you swipe.
Also, the NFL Extra Points Credit Card makes it much more affordable to cheer your team on in person. The average cost of an NFL ticket ranges from $60 to more than $120, according to the Team Marketing Report in Chicago.
But remember, if you buy those tickets through a team ticket office with the NFL Extra Points Credit Card, you’ll get six months to pay them off without having to cough up interest. This means rooting for your favorite team from the stands a few times per season isn’t such a pipe dream after all.
Traveling a lot this football season?
The NFL Extra Points Credit Card is a great card for getting you into the stadium more often, but what about getting to the stadium? Following your favorite team might involve some travel costs, so here’s a card that could help ease that burden:
If you’re planning to drive: Chase Freedom®
If you’re going to be driving from city to city to support your team, the Chase Freedom® is a smart pick. With it, you’ll earn 5% cash back in rotating quarterly bonus categories (up to $1,500 spent per quarter) and unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases. Historically, gas stations have been featured as a 5% category for 2 out of 4 quarters per year, which means the card provides an annual average of 3% cash back at the pump. Not too shabby!
Also, the Chase Freedom® offers a modest sign-up bonus: Earn a $150 Bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. All these great benefits come at an annual fee of $0, so it’s certainly a card to keep in mind. Go team!
