Pros and cons

  • Free checked baggage

  • Early boarding group

  • No foreign transaction fees

Cons
  • Has annual fee

Frequent flyers of American Airlines who enjoy the carrier’s exclusive Admirals Club airport lounges should consider the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®. It’s likely the least expensive way to buy a membership.

But that premium experience comes at a premium cost annually: $450.

The card is full of features and perks, including a generous policy for free checked bags. A sampling:

--Earn 50,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after spending $5,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

--Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent on American Airlines purchases and 1 mile per $1 on everything else.

--First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries for you and up to eight companions traveling with you on the same reservation.

--No foreign transaction fees.

If American isn’t your go-to airline and you rarely use airport lounges, a different card might suit you better. But if you’re a regular occupant of Admirals Clubs, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better deal than the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®.
