Southwest's consumer credit cards are boosting their sign-up bonuses.

As of Aug. 13, 2020, the three Chase-issued products feature the following offer: Earn 65,000 points if you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months.

Previously, all three cards earned 40,000 points after you spent $1,000 in the first three months. In other words, this new offer nets you 25,000 more Rapid Rewards points, though it requires double the minimum spend.

The higher bonus makes it that much easier to reach the 125,000 qualifying points needed to earn Southwest’s much-loved Companion Pass, which allows you to add a second ticket onto your flight reservation for the cost of taxes and fees, from $5.60.

The Southwest credit cards periodically change sign-up bonuses for new cardholders. Earlier in 2020, for example, the cards offered a tiered structure that offered a potential total bonus of 75,000 points if you met both qualifying spending tiers. (That offer has expired.)
