The terms of the World of Hyatt Credit Card have changed, and this article is out of date. See our details page on the World of Hyatt Credit Card for up-to-date details.

For the start of 2019, World of Hyatt Credit Card has changed its sign-up bonus, decreasing the number of bonus points you can earn as a new cardholder.

Now, the card's sign-up bonus is phrased like this: Earn 25,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. Plus, an additional 25,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 in spend within the first 6 months of account opening.

Last year, the annual fee for the card increased to $95, but you also had the opportunity for a higher sign-up bonus of up to 60,000 bonus points: 40,000 after you spent $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening, plus an additional 20,000 after you spent a total of $6,000 on purchases within the first 6 months of account opening.

While 50,000 bonus points will still give you options when it comes to booking discounted hotel stays, it's never easy to stomach getting 10,000 fewer points for reaching the same relatively high spending threshold.

That said, cardholders who frequently stay at Hyatt properties will still enjoy plenty of perks for their loyalty, including the ability to earn 9 points total per $1 spent at Hyatt (4 points per $1 when you use your card at Hyatt hotels, plus 5 base points per $1 you earn as a World of Hyatt member).

Other key perks and benefits of the card remain:

  • Earn 2 points per $1 spent at restaurants, on airline tickets purchased directly from airlines, on local transit and commuting, and on fitness club and gym memberships.

  • Receive one free night every year after your cardmember anniversary at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort.

  • Earn an extra free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort if you spend $15,000 during your cardmember anniversary year.

  • Get automatic World of Hyatt Elite status for as long as your account is open and five qualifying night credits toward your next tier status every year.
