Hilton’s latest promotion is a boon for its loyalty members, especially for the credit-card-carrying ones. For a limited time, Hilton Honors members can get double points on all of their Hilton stays during the promotion period from Sept. 9, 2019, to Jan. 5, 2020. Members with a Hilton-branded credit card can earn triple points during this promotion (Terms apply).
How to participate
Register online here. Even if you’re not sure what your fall travel plans are, it doesn’t hurt to sign up in case you happen to book a Hilton hotel last-minute. The promotion will not kick in for any stays that you complete before registering. However, if you already booked a stay for travel during the promotion period, you can still earn the bonus as long as you register before checking out.
Stay at any Hilton property between Sept. 9, 2019 and Jan. 5, 2019. No matter where in the world you’re going or which Hilton brand you’re staying at, any qualifying stay will earn you bonus points equal to the number of base points you would receive for the stay. You'll get triple the points if you use a Hilton credit card to book.
Receive your bonus points within six to eight weeks of completing your stay.
Hilton credit cards
Hilton credit card holders have the most to gain from the “Power Up” promotion.
For example, if you have a Hilton Honors American Express Card, you earn 7x points per $1 spent on Hilton purchases and you get automatic Silver status, which gets you a 20% bonus on base points earned with a stay, too (Terms apply). Let’s say you use the card to book a $200 two-night Hilton hotel stay.
You’ll earn:
2,000 base points (10 points per $1).
4,000 bonus points through the “Power Up” promotion.
400 points for the Silver elite status bonus.
1,400 points for spending with the Hilton credit card.
That’s a whopping 7,800 points — almost four times as many points you would earn without the promotion or credit card.

The bottom line
This Hilton “Power Up” promotion certainly beats its “Go More, Get More” summer promotion, which only offered double points starting on the second stay and no extra incentives for cardholders. Be sure to register for this promotion before booking or staying at any Hilton hotels through Jan. 5., 2020.
