Travel Hack: Maximizing Radisson's 5k Per Stay promo

As travel slowly creeps back into the minds of Americans, many hotel chains are running promotions to attract your business. But Radisson Hotels is offering an especially eye-catching deal: The 5k Per Stay promo. If you pick the right hotels at the right times, your Points + Cash stay could be as low as 0 (yes, zero) points plus $39, and you earn points on the cash portion.

Here’s a look at how the Radisson 5k Per Stay promotion works and how you can get the best value from it.

Promotion overview

From now until the end of 2020, Radisson Rewards members earn 5,000 bonus points for every stay at over 1,100 Radisson hotels all across the planet. The kicker is that Points + Cash stays are eligible. Points + Cash rates start at only 5,000 points, meaning that when you stay, you’ll pay 5,000 points and then get those 5,000 points rebated back to you. You can recycle those same 5,000 points over and over again and stay for only the cash portion of the rate. Pretty amazing, right?

It gets better. When you book a stay on Points + Cash, you earn points on the cash portion of your stay. Choosing a hotel that costs 5,000 points and $50, for example, means that you’ll get those 5,000 points back plus earn points on the $50.

You have to register for the promotion before your first stay. That stay must be completed before Dec. 31 (checking out on Jan. 1 won’t count).

How many points will you earn?

The number of points you earn depends on your level of status with the Radisson Rewards program.

  • Club = 20 points per $1.

  • Silver = 22 points per $1.

  • Gold = 25 points per $1.

  • Platinum = 35 points per $1.

If you have the Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature® Card, you’ll earn free Gold status and an additional 10 points per dollar spent at Radisson hotels, for a total of 35 points per $1. If you’re already a Platinum member and you get the credit card, you’ll get 45 points per $1 when you stay at all the Radisson hotels.

So where are the good deals?

When redeeming for Points + Cash rates, you get the most value by booking a Category 3 hotel. Category 1 through 3 hotels all require the same number of points for the Points + Cash rates: 5,000.

In the United States alone, there are 345 hotels that fall into this category. Need some inspiration? You can search for hotels here or browse the incredible deals below.

You can find hundreds more deals including in Boone, North Carolina; Nashua, New Hampshire; Holland, Michigan; Washington, D.C.; Lexington, Kentucky; and Tampa, Florida.

Category 4 and 5 hotels

Category 4 and 5 hotels charge 10,000 points plus per night for Points + Cash stays. These properties are typically better located in cities than lower-category hotels (think downtown or near attractions), yet the cash portion of their Points + Cash rates can be surprisingly low. Many of these Category 4 and 5 hotels offer excellent value in the 5k Per Stay promotion.

For each of the stays below, you’ll earn the 5,000 points rebate and points on the cash portion as well.

You can find dozens of other deals in cities across the U.S. including Page, Arizona.; Denver, Colorado.; and even Duluth, Minnesota, with an indoor waterslide.

The bottom line

If you have some Radisson points saved up, this promotion offers an extremely high-value way to redeem them. Maximizing the promotion with Platinum status and the credit card means you could be traveling for zero or close to zero points plus very little cash.
