The recently revamped American Express® Gold Card has made a few more adjustments to its features, and some of them may be welcome news — unless you were in the market for a rose gold version of the card.

First, the big positive. The card has boosted its welcome offer: Earn 60,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases with your new Card within the first 6 months of Card Membership. Terms Apply. That's 10,000 points higher than the previous offer.

American Express Membership Rewards points are worth about 1 cent each, according to NerdWallet's valuations, so the new public offer could be worth as much as $350 in redemption value, or $100 more than the card's $250 annual fee.

Now, the potentially bad news: The American Express® Gold Card will no longer be available in a rose gold shade, just the regular gold option.

Also, the card is no longer offering 20% back as a statement credit at U.S. restaurants within the first 3 months, up to $100 back. That was in addition to the previous welcome offer: 25,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $2,000 on eligible purchases with your new card within the first 3 months. In total, those two offers represented a potential $350 value — if you were able to take advantage of both.

The new welcome offer will be worth about the same amount in total and requires keeping track of only one spending threshold. And if your goal is to maximize your Membership Rewards points, this is a better deal for you.

What's staying the same
