Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own.

How much are Amtrak Guest Rewards Points worth?
Each Amtrak Guest Rewards point is worth at least 1 cent, because you can redeem 10,000 points for $100 gift cards at a huge variety of large retail and restaurant chains, like Chili’s, GAP, Macy’s, and Hertz Car Rentals. However, if you redeem for Choice Points, we believe Amtrak points are actually worth 2.4 cents each, making this a 2.4% rewards card!

Choice Points Are The Best Way to Redeem
There are a few travel partners, for this card. Most importantly, Choice Hotels (better known as Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, MainStay, Suburban, Econo Lodge, and Rodeway), Hilton Hotels, and Continental Airlines.

However, we’d argue that the best way to redeem Amtrak points is in exchange for Choice Privileges Points. You can redeem 5,000 Amtrak Points for 15,000 Choice Privileges points! Since we rank Choice Privilege points at 0.8 cents each on our hotel infographic, this means the card effectively has a 2.4% rewards rate. This is even better than the Choice Hotels credit card, which earns 2 points per dollar, for a 1.6% rewards rate.

You can redeem 5,000 points at Hilton for 10,000 HHonors Points, but given our point value estimate of 0.5 cents, that option only gets you a 1% rewards rate. Finally, you can swap 5,000 Amtrak Guest Rewards points for 5,000 Continental Airlines Miles, which are worth less than a cent each as described in our Airline Infographic.
