Pros and cons

Pros
  • No foreign transaction fee

Cons
  • Has annual fee

  • Needs excellent credit

The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card is the most expensive of the airline's co-branded cards with Chase, but it’s also the most generous. The card offers plenty of perks to offset its $149 annual fee: a travel credit, upgraded boarding, savings on in-flight purchases and an anniversary bonus.

As a new cardholder, you also get a sign-up offer: Earn up to 60,000 points. Earn 40,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Plus, earn 20,000 points after you spend $12,000 on purchases in the first 12 months your account is open.

On top of these incentives, you’ll earn 2 points per $1 spent on:

-Southwest purchases: Includes airfare, in-flight purchases, Southwest gift cards and more.

-Rapid Rewards car rental and hotel partners.

All other purchases earn 1 point per $1 spent.

The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card doesn’t offer the lavish perks or rewards flexibility that you'll find with some other travel cards, but it can provide significant value and savings if you frequently fly with the airline.
