Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

For Amazon sellers using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), the best accounting software comes with comprehensive reporting, easy-to-use features and integrations with useful e-commerce apps — for instance, ones that can help with inventory tracking.
Although inventory management is a critical component of your profitable Amazon business, it’s not the only thing you need to take into consideration when you choose accounting software. Having a true double-entry accounting system in place with balance sheets and reconciliation capabilities is essential because it leaves less room for error. Before you settle on accounting software for tracking sales on Amazon, make sure it is a true double-entry accounting system, like the options on our list.
Here are our top picks for accounting software for Amazon sellers along with a couple of products that didn’t make the cut.

NerdWallet’s picks for the best accounting software for Amazon sellers

QuickBooks Online

Best overall accounting software for Amazon sellers
Why we picked it: QuickBooks Online offers standout reporting capabilities that can help you get a clear picture of your Amazon FBA business. As one of the most ubiquitous accounting products on the market, QuickBooks is familiar to most accountants and bookkeepers. It also uses the standard double-entry accounting method.
For access to the most useful reporting features, choose either QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced instead of the less-expensive Essentials or Simple Start. QuickBooks Online Plus allows you to set up class and location tracking, which will help you determine what segments of your business are most profitable. You can also track inventory in QuickBooks Online Plus.
QuickBooks Online also integrates directly with dozens of apps that sync data with Amazon and other e-commerce platforms, making it an especially great accounting software for Amazon FBA sellers. Read our review of QuickBooks Online.

Xero

Best simple accounting software for Amazon sellers
Why we picked it: Xero is another outstanding accounting application, particularly for those who are new to bookkeeping. With over 4 million subscribers globally, it’s a worthy competitor of QuickBooks. Amazon sellers will appreciate Xero for its ease of use, wealth of features and extensive support resources.
Like QuickBooks, Xero uses double-entry accounting and has an app marketplace with hundreds of third-party software applications that can extend the functionality of your accounting software. It lists more than a dozen apps that integrate with Amazon with Xero for seamless data transferIf you choose to use Xero and a third-party app for your Amazon accounting needs, it’s a good idea to enlist the help of an accountant or bookkeeper to ensure your data is integrating properly. Read our Xero Accounting review.

Zoho Books

Best multilingual, multicurrency accounting software for Amazon sellers
Why we picked it: As a global brand that sells and ships goods all over the world, Amazon attracts sellers to its marketplace from a variety of countries. If you’re an Amazon seller whose first language is one other than English, then you may be interested in accounting software that can assist you with managing your accounts payable and accounts receivable, tracking the financial health of your business, remaining tax compliant, handling payroll and more — all in your native language. Zoho Books and its full suite of features are currently available in 22 languages, including Chinese, German and Spanish. And if your customer base extends beyond your own country, Zoho Books can handle transactions in multiple currencies while automatically calculating exchange rates. Read our full Zoho Books review.

A2X

Best e-commerce integration to use with accounting software
Why we picked it: A2X is not itself accounting software but rather an app that integrates with both QuickBooks Online and Xero to automate the e-commerce accounting process for Amazon sellers. A2X automatically fetches your Amazon settlements and will post summarized transactions to your accounting software, including data on inventory and the cost of goods sold.
It’s also worth noting that A2X follows the accrual basis method of accounting. As with double-entry accounting, accrual basis accounting improves accuracy. Instead of cash basis accounting, which looks at your finances as cash comes in, accrual basis accounting focuses on revenue and expenses as they are billed. This might sound strange to some small-business owners, but this accounting method can help give you a clearer picture of your Amazon business’s profitability. Reporting your numbers on an accrual basis is particularly important to Amazon sellers, who must adhere to Amazon’s pay schedule, which typically happens bi-weekly. With A2X’s focus on accrual basis, you won’t have to worry about making misguided decisions based on cash basis accounting, making this a smart choice for your Amazon business.

🤓 Nerdy Tip

One of the biggest benefits of being an Amazon seller is that you can sell your product across the country, or even around the world. This benefit also causes a huge headache: sales tax compliance. Although most accounting programs include some sales tax features, these typically only calculate the sales tax due based on information entered by the user and generate a consolidated sales tax report for tax filing. They do not fully manage sales tax compliance. For help with this, you can purchase a subscription to a sales tax automation app, such as Avalara or TaxJar, that integrates with your accounting software as well as Amazon. We also recommend that you hire a bookkeeper to help manage your books and especially to aid you with tax preparation and filing. Check out our list of the best online bookkeeping services, which includes our top pick for tax support.

Accounting software that didn’t make our list for Amazon sellers

NerdWallet considered nearly a dozen accounting products when putting together this list of the best software for Amazon FBA sellers. A couple of the products that make our best accounting software list nearly made this roundup because they offer a super solid accounting solution. However, for reasons noted below, we don’t recommend them for Amazon sellers.

FreshBooks

Why we considered it: FreshBooks routinely makes our lists of the best accounting software as an excellent solution for freelancers and self-employed individuals. We rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars for its affordability, pricing transparency, mobile app and inclusion of nearly all the standard and advanced accounting features needed to remain competitive with the top accounting products.
Why it didn’t make the cut: FreshBooks has a number of useful billing and accounting features, but it’s light on inventory management capability and requires use of a third-party product called Zapier to then integrate with Amazon Seller Central. This adds an additional layer of complexity as well as cost that can be avoided by choosing popular accounting software with its own direct integration with Amazon and other relevant e-commerce apps.

Odoo

Why we considered it: Odoo offers a full suite of business software applications that have been designed from the ground up to integrate seamlessly with one another. And because Odoo is built on open-source software, a community of developers is continually rolling out improvements to existing Odoo apps as well as all new software. Its pricing structure allows for use of a single one of its dozens of apps for free. If you want to use more than one app, one monthly payment will grant you access to Odoo’s full library of apps.
Why it didn’t make the cut: While Odoo does have an Amazon Connector app to sync your seller data with your Odoo apps (including accounting, sales, inventory and others), it requires purchase of a base integration module plus the connector module, which together total over $300. Setup of these modules is involved and may require developer skills. And for all the cost and configuration effort involved, much of the data syncing across Amazon and Odoo’s appears to be manual. Amazon sellers who aren’t already well-versed in code, open-source software and APIs would be better off with out-of-the-box accounting solutions like QuickBooks and Xero that use direct integrations with third-party software to seamlessly sync with their Amazon store.
