The U.S. Department of Education ordered The Center for Student Debt Reform in 2016 to remove the agency’s official seal from the company website and to state clearly that it has no government affiliation. The company is also known as Student Loan Consultants of America.

Enforcement actions: The Education Department issued a cease and desist order about use of the seal and directed the company to post a disclaimer clarifying that it has no connection to the agency.

What the company claims to provide: Help with ending wage garnishments, enrolling in loan forgiveness programs, lowering monthly payments and consolidating federal student loans
