In February 2018, the Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint against Financial Education Benefits Center as part of an ongoing crackdown on student debt relief fraud — a joint enforcement effort called “Operation Game of Loans.”

The FTC’s complaint targets three other defendants: American Financial Benefits Center and AmeriTech Financial, connected businesses accused of the same deceptive practices, and Brandon Demond Frere, the founder and majority owner of all three companies.

American Financial Benefits Center also does business as AFB and AF Student Services.
