Harbor Freight Best Black Friday Deals 2013

The 3-day sale for the Harbor Freight Best Black Friday Deals 2013 begins at 7am on Friday and runs all the way through Sunday, although shoppers with an Inside Track Club membership can enter the store at 6am, giving them a valuable head start. The ad promises hundreds more unadvertised specials, so that membership may well be worthwhile for shoppers with lots of tools on their shopping list. With tons of discounts of well over half off, this ad puts other Black Friday events to shame.

Take a look at a few of the ad’s biggest opportunities to save:

  • A 12” Sliding Compound Double-Bevel Miter Saw with Laser Guide is a steal at $127.99, a $172 reduction from its original price.
  • At $91 off, the 900 Peak/800 Running Watts 2HP (63 CC) Gas Generator is a huge savings at only $88.88.
  • The Pittsburgh Rapid Pump 3 Ton Heavy Duty Floor Jack is marked down to a low $68.88, for a total savings of $81.

Best Harbor Freight Black Friday Deals from 2012

Customers last year found the best Harbor Freight Black Friday Deals from 2012 ad leaked earlier than most stores, around the middle of October. As the 2012 ad mentioned, the store’s doors opened at two different times Black Friday morning. For the Inside Track members, who pay a $30 annual fee, the store was theirs starting at 6am. The non-exclusive shoppers were allowed in at 7am, which was the advertised time on the top of the ad. The sales continued into the weekend, ending Sunday evening.

The sales themselves focused on tools, Harbor Freight’s specialty, especially the Pittsburgh Automotive 12-ft 8 Gauge Jumper cables that went for $4.99 (72.6% off), the Cen-Tech Infrared Thermometer w/ Laser Targeting at $19.83 (43.33% off), and the Pittsburgh 22-pc. Screwdriver Set at $8.99 (40% off). The average discount of the sales overall was approximately 20% off. The top 4 most discounted items, which include the ones above, were $20 or less, making the deals reasonable and shopping in bulk a good idea. Work benches, tool boxes, and specific appliances were the main draw of the ad, and on a few assorted items was an ornament icon exclaiming “Great Gift!”

The Black Friday ad included items that, although discounted from their original store prices, were available for those reduced prices since October of that year, 2012. For instance, the Haulmaster 500-lb. Capacity Steel Cargo Container went for $39.99, 60% off even before Black Friday. Others included the $1.99 Gordon Pair of 2 LED Flashlights (3.5 inches each), the $69.99 Pittsburgh 3-ton Floor Jack w/ Rapid Pump, and the $89.99 Chicago Electric 90-amp. Flux Wire Welder—80%, 50%, and 40% off, respectively. Comparing prices with the online current prices always helps determine what the real deals are for Black Friday versus the ongoing ones.

At the bottom of the ad was the reminder that the product inventory was limited, which gave an incentive for shoppers to not wait until the last minute. The overall sales did look appealing, but the ad was not comprehensive. With less than 5 pages, the ad compensated with a note at the bottom “Plus Hundreds of Unadvertised Specials,” favoring customers to visit the store first before assessing the load of potential purchases to be made. The cheap tools did look good in the ads, but remember that cheaper items don’t always mean good quality. Checking the equipment and the warrantees are always good ideas.
