Verizon Wireless Black Friday 2013

The Verizon Wireless Black Friday 2013 ad is out and holiday shoppers looking for mobile devices should give it a close look. At two pages, even this brief advertisement is a bit more comprehensive than Sprint’s super minimal (still, not too shabby) Black Friday ad. Like Sprint, Verizon will be offering amazing deals on a popular model of smart phone and tablet; in fact on Friday only both the Limited Edition Motorola Droid Razr HD smartphone and Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet will be free (with 2-year activation of course)!

But that’s not all – shoppers can supplement these big-ticket items with some accessories that we think will make for great stocking stuffers. Again, the Razr HD and Ellipsis 7 will be free on Friday only, and while other deals run from Saturday to Sunday, quantities may be limited so we suggest getting an early start, especially if you’re lining up for either of the free items.

Verizon Wireless Best Black Friday Deals 2013

There’s no question which of Verizon’s Black Friday deals stand out – the highlights of this ad are the Motorola Limited Edition Droid Razr HD and Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet, both of which are free – that’s right, $0 – with 2-year activation.  Not excited about the Razr model? You can also get up to $100 off other popular smartphone models throughout Black Friday weekend, including:

  • Samsung Galaxy S 4 Quad-Core Processor Android: $99.99
  • HTC One Dual Front Speaker Smartphone: $99.99
  • Motorola Droid Maxx w/Long-Lasting Batter: $199.99
Not in need of a new mobile device? You’ve still got some decent options when it comes to accessories.
  • Speck FitFolio for Verizon Ellipsis 7: $34.99
  • mophie juice pack powerstation 4000: $59.99 (was $79.99)
  • Delphi Connect with 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot: $199.99
  • Jawbone Jambox Portable Bluetooth Speaker: $99.99 (was $149.99)

Best Verizon Wireless Black Friday Deals from 2012

Looking back at the best Verizon Wireless Black Friday deals from 2012, Verizon Wireless released a 4-page ad for Black Friday, advertising mostly what it’s known for, phones. But, not to be outdone by other electronic stores, it offered discounted tablets as well. The sale was Black Friday only and doors opened at different times depending on mall hours.

Verizon Wireless’s tablet doorbuster was the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) in special edition white for $99.99. This was the better Black Friday deal when compared to Best Buy’s sale of that same tablet for $179.99, and that was after $70 was taken off its original price.

For phones, the Droid Razr 4G LTE by Motorola in special edition cranberry was free, but only after the buyer received the $50 mail-in rebate debit card, which was unclear in the ad itself whether it was a store card or a no-strings-attached card. Another catch was the new 2-year phone contract one had to sign in order to get the deal, which meant that any update fees to the phone would have to be paid when they arose. Beware of free things, rule of thumb. This free offer for phones (with $50 rebate debit card) extended to many on page two of the ad, including the Lucid 4G LTE by LG and the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE by Samsung.

The Motorola RAZR Bundle, which included a snap-on cover, anti-scratch display protector 3-pack, and phone charger for the car, went for $39.99, off its original sum of $62.97 (when all three products were purchased separately). This was essentially a 36% off deal. The obvious requirement for this deal to work was to have a Motorola RAZR phone, though, which was the retailer’s focal point of phones in this sale.

It became evident that Verizon Wireless stacked some of its deals so that one depended on another. Another good example of this was the $99.99 Jawbone Jambox with 50% off—but only if the customer bought a new phone in the store. The ad overall did not offer many stand-alone products that came with straightforward, non-rebate discounts.

There were a few in the latter pages, though. Two of the best deals looked to be the Jabra Wave Bluetooth Headset at $29.99 and the Klipsch Stereo Headset with Android Controller S4A at $49.99, both 50% off. Accessories were the better bargain than phones were in terms of having no strings attached and no additional update fees.
