Step 1: Select a badge to place on your website
There are five badges to choose from. Select a small badge with a white or blue background or a large badge with a white or blue background or an HTML text link. Click to select which badge you would like to add to your website or blog. You can see which badge is selected by the light grey border around the chosen badge. Use the HTML text link version of the badge if you don’t want to add an image to your webpage. This badge will link to your store’s own personal coupon page on NerdWallet. Just click on a badge to select it. Here’s an example:
Step 2: Copy the badge code
Copy the code snippet provided. Click inside the text box then copy the text to your clipboard. The HTML code snippet will look similar to this but customized for your store:
Step 3: Paste the code snippet on your blog or website
Paste the code snippet that you copied from Step 2 onto your blog or website in the HTML source code. Paste the code wherever you want on your blog or website – your sidebar, your footer, or anywhere you’d like. The code will show up as the picture badge button or HTML text link that you selected in Step 1.
To add the badge code to your Blogspot, you can add a Gadget to your Blog Layout and paste the badge code there. Go to your Layout Settings.
Then click “Add a Gadget” on your blog layout where you would like to add the badge. You would most likely add the badge to your sidebar.
Select the HTML/Javascript Gadget.
Paste the HTML code snippet in the Context text box and click “Save”.
You now have a shiny new badge on your blog to connect your visitors directly to your store’s coupon page!
Step 4: Test your badge
Once you are finished with step 3, tell us the URL where you put the badge code from Step 3. Then click the “Test Now” button to test that adding the badge button to your website worked.
If adding the badge button to your website worked, you will receive a “Successful!” message. Then click “OK” to continue.
Now, you can go edit your coupons to add an image and up to three tags to each coupon and enjoy all the other new feature available to you that all result in increased exposure for your store and your coupons! Thank you for spreading the word about your store’s coupons!
Add a Regular Link
If your blog or website does not let you edit the HTML or if you would prefer not to add a button badge to your website, you can link to your coupons using a regular link by selecting the “I’d rather add a regular link” hyperlink.
Step 1: Tell us where you’re putting the link
Enter the URL of the location that you are adding the link.
Step 2: Copy your coupon page URL
Copy the URL provided – that’s your own store’s coupon page on NerdWallet.
Step 3: Add the link to your site and test it
Add the link to your blog or website the way that you are familiar with adding a link to your website. This linking method may differ between different blog and website platforms. Test that adding a link to your website worked by clicking the “Test Now” button.
If adding the link to your website worked, you will receive a “Successful!” message. Then click “OK” to continue.
Now, you can go edit your coupons to add an image to each one and enjoy all the other new feature available to you that all result in increased exposure for your store and your coupons!
