- New Features
Your About Page is a new feature from Etsy that launched in June 2012 and it’s a great way to tell your story about your shop and products. If you have already activated your About Page, skip to Step 2. If you have not yet activated your About page in Etsy, go to your Etsy shop’s Info & Appearance page where you usually go to edit your Shop Title and Shop Announcement. Click to the “About” tab to the right of the “Info & Appearance” tab. Click here to learn more about creating your About page in Etsy.
Now, fill out some basic information about yourself. By sharing a portrait of yourself, your name, your role, and a short bio, you introduce yourself as the maker behind the products you sell in your shop which lets buyers relate and connect with who you are. Once you click the “Add Shop Member” button, you can share your Shop’s Story which will be published on your new About page. You can also add five pictures that can be product pictures or even photos that show your workspace and your creative process. Here are some additional helpful tips from Etsy to customize your About Page to better tell your creative story. In the Shop Links section, you can add up to three links to your About Page. You can choose from four different Link Types: Facebook, Twitter, Shop Blog, or Shop Website. For one of your three Shop Links, select “Shop Website” as the Link Type, and we will get your coupon page Link URL in the next step.
In your NerdWallet Dashboard, click the “Share with Friends” tab. Then click the “Share with Friends” button.
A new “Share about NerdWallet Indie with your Friends!” window will popup. Then click the “Or add a regular link” link near the bottom of the popup window. Here, in Step 1, tells us where you’re putting the link. In this case, put your new Etsy About page URL here in the “Enter the location here” field. Your Etsy About page URL is http://www.etsy.com/shop/YourEtsyShopName/about where you change out “YourEtsyShopName” for your actual Etsy shop name.
Once you pasted your Etsy About page URL in Step 1, copy your coupon page URL from Step 2. It should look like http://www.nerdwallet.com/coupons/store/YourEtsyShopName but with your actual Etsy shop name instead of “YourEtsyShopName.”
Now go back to your Etsy About page’s Edit screen. You already selected “Shop Website” as the Link Type. For the corresponding Link URL, paste your NerdWallet coupon page URL that you copied in Step 2. It should look something like this.
Now click the “Save & Preview” button to save your changes. Etsy then shows you a preview of what your new About Page looks like. Click the “Publish” button to activate your About Page so that it’s public to all visitors.
Next is the final step!
Go back to your Dashboard on NerdWallet. Click the “Test Now” button to test that your link works.
Now, you can go edit your coupons and add an image to each of your coupons! Enjoy all the other new features available to you that give you increased exposure for your Etsy store and coupons!
