Want to buy tickets to a Disney theme park using your Chase points?

If you log in to the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal and poke around, you’ll quickly come to a rather unhappy conclusion: You can’t. Tickets to Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California don’t show up in search results under “Things to Do.” Anywhere.

But due to what may be a glitch in the Ultimate Rewards booking portal, right now you can buy Disney tickets using your Chase points using this workaround.

How to purchase the tickets

Log in to your Chase account and navigate to the Ultimate Rewards® portal. Under the options provided for different ways to spend points, choose “Things to Do,” then enter your destination city, such as “Orlando” and dates.

You’ll see a lot of options that don’t include the nearby Disney park. Click on one of the options – one of the parks or places you’re not looking for — such as Universal City Orlando. That will bring up a list of ticket purchasing options for that park. If you then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, you’ll see something rather surprising: Under the “People who looked at Universal Studios also looked at …” header, Disney World is one of the options.

And, yes, you can buy the tickets with your Chase points. A recent search for tickets in spring 2019 showed them starting at 11,791 points each.

Because this unpublished option appears to be an unintended glitch, there’s no guarantee it will be available for long. So if you have plans to go to a Disney park and you want to buy tickets, act fast. But if your plans aren’t set, beware: The tickets are nonrefundable.
