When Marriott Bonvoy was introduced as the replacement for Marriott’s old rewards program, that brought a slew of overhauls and a selection of new co-branded credit cards. The latest of those credit cards is the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card.
This card can be a good step up for non-elite Bonvoy members who want to earn more rewards and enhance their Marriott experience.
Here are some of the best benefits that come with the card.

1. No annual fee
This is the benefit that really sets the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card apart from its sibling cards: an annual fee of $0. All of the other Bonvoy-branded cards carry an annual fee, the cheapest starting at $95. With an annual fee of $0, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card is a great introductory card for anyone to take their Bonvoy membership to the next level.
The lack of an annual fee does come with a major downside: No premium perks. All of the other Bonvoy co-branded cards include at least one free hotel night as of your cardmember anniversary, plus bigger bonuses in certain spending categories.
2. Silver status upgrade
The Marriott Bonvoy program rewards frequent guests with perks based on how many nights they stay at participating hotels throughout the year. Each of the five elite tiers stacks on new bonuses, so joining a new level can really upgrade your experience. Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card holders receive 15 elite night credits annually, meaning immediate promotion to the Silver Elite level.
With Silver Elite status comes late checkout when available, access to a dedicated elite reservation line and an additional 10% bonus on earned points.
3. Point-earning potential
One of the main reasons to look at a co-branded credit card is to increase the loyalty points you earn. The Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card comes with ways to earn points even when you aren’t staying at a Marriott branded hotel. Every $1 spent on the card earns 1 point, no matter where you’re spending it. Any travel purchases earn 2 points for every $1 spent, and every $1 spent at a Marriott-branded hotel earns 3 points.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card also comes with a generous sign-up bonus: Earn 50,000 Bonus Points after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s a major chunk of points to start your collection and is enough for at least one night in many hotels. The spending requirement can be easy to complete if you start using your card for everyday purchases like groceries and household bills.
4. Travel protection
The best travel rewards cards come with some kind of protection to ensure your trips go smoothly, and the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card is no different.
- Baggage delay insurance: If your bag is delayed by six hours or more, you are eligible for $100 a day for up to five days for essentials like toiletries and clothes.
- Lost luggage reimbursement: If the airline loses your checked bag or carry-on, you’re covered for up to $3,000 per passenger.
- Trip delay reimbursement: If you’re delayed by at least 12 hours or require an overnight stay, you and your family members are eligible for up to $500 per ticket for non-reimbursed expenses like food or lodging.

5. Participating hotels
The Marriott Bonvoy rewards program includes a large selection of hotels that at first glance you might think aren’t related to Marriott at all. These include everything from high-end luxury hotels to long-term apartments. Some of the brands include:
- The Ritz-CarltonW Hotels.
- Renaissance Hotels.
- Gaylord Hotels.
With the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card, every $1 spent at these hotels earns cardholders three points.
The bottom line
For a card with an annual fee of $0, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card packs in a ton of perks. You’ll begin earning Bonvoy rewards points immediately and can book without fear of canceled flights or lost luggage. The Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card is a great introductory travel rewards card, but experienced travelers may want to check out the other co-branded Bonvoy cards for more premium rewards.
