Born in 2015, Prime Day is the brainchild of Amazon. It’s a limited-time sale with an exclusive guest list — Amazon Prime members. Typically held in July, the event is getting off to a slightly earlier start than usual this year.

After six iterations of the bargain blowout, the seventh annual Prime Day is coming June 21 and 22. Here’s what you need to know.

In the retail world, Prime Day stands alongside Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a go-to shopping event for just about any product category. Past installments of Prime Day have included price cuts on everything from Echo speakers to toilet bowl lights.

This year, Amazon promises the discount day will feature more than two million deals globally for Prime members.

So when should you get your virtual shopping cart ready?

Prime Day 2021 begins at midnight Pacific time on Monday, June 21 and runs for 48 hours — the same time span as last year’s event.

If you want to shop the sale, you’ll need to be a Prime member. costs $119 per year or $12.99 per month. New Prime members get a 30-day free trial before paying.

And keep your options open. It likely won’t just be Amazon hosting bargains. We expect copycat sales from other retailers on and around June 21 as part of an early holiday deals push.
