Can an LLC get a credit card?

Yes, LLCs can get credit cards. Approval for business credit cards largely depends on the personal credit of the applicant, not factors like incorporation status or revenue. In fact, a business credit card can be a great tool for new LLCs and existing companies to build business credit and separate business and personal finances.
You should apply for an LLC business card using your employer identification number, or EIN, though most business cards also require your Social Security number. You'll need to consent to a personal guarantee, too, which states that you (the applicant) will pay the bill if your business can't.
You may be able to get a business credit card with no personal guarantee if your LLC has high annual revenue and has been in business for several years. Those will typically be corporate cards. Because LLCs are registered businesses, they can usually qualify for these cards even though they aren't structured as corporations.

How to choose a business credit card for your LLC

The right business credit card for your LLC will help you finance necessary purchases and offer maximal rewards on your spending. Here’s what to look for while choosing one.
Credit card rewards typically fall into two categories: cash back or travel points. If you travel often, a business card that offers travel rewards can quickly fund your next big trip — but these cards usually come with annual fees. A cash-back business credit card could be your best choice if you want to keep expenses low, since cash-back cards with no annual fee are more common.
Within those categories, you’ll also need to choose between a card with flat-rate rewards or one with bonus tiers. Opt for a card with bonus tiers if you spend a lot in the high-reward categories, typically travel, gas stations and office supply stores, depending on the card. Otherwise, stick with a flat-rate card that doles out the same reward rate no matter where you spend.
Some credit cards offer a 0% introductory APR period, which can serve as an alternative to a business loan for newer, smaller businesses. If you’re a new LLC facing startup expenses or have a large purchase on the horizon, you can pay off these costs over the course of the no-interest period.
Already have an outstanding balance that accumulates high interest? Transfer that debt to a balance-transfer business card to buy you time to pay it down without interest.
Most business credit cards require a Social Security number and an EIN when you apply, but there are a few exceptions. Corporate cards, like Ramp and Brex, let you apply with only an EIN. However, to qualify for a corporate card, your LLC will typically need angel investment or venture funding or to be generating millions of dollars in annual revenue.
