When is Amazon Prime Day 2025?
Amazon just announced the timing for Amazon Prime Day 2025. The sale will happen July 8-11. That's four days of deals — the longest Prime Day sale ever.
The event will start July 8 at 12:01 a.m. PT and run for 96 hours.
When was the last Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon’s October Prime Day, called Prime Big Deal Days, happened Oct. 8-9, 2024. It started promptly at 12:01 a.m. PT and ran for 48 hours.
The summer version of Amazon Prime Day was July 16-17, 2024. NerdWallet tracked prices at Amazon and across several other major retailers during the sale days, and found deals to be a mixed bag.
What is Prime Day?
Born in 2015, Prime Day is the made-up sale holiday brainchild of Amazon. It’s a limited-time summer sale with an exclusive guest list — Amazon Prime members.
In the retail world, Prime Day stands alongside Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a go-to shopping event for good buys in many product categories. Past installments of Prime Day have included price cuts on everything from Echo devices to toilet bowl lights.
Amazon says the 2025 installment of Prime Day will include discounts on back-to-school supplies, toys, books, pet essentials, snacks and more.
For the first time since Prime Day started, Amazon will feature themed deal drops throughout the sale, called "Today's Big Deals." These deals will launch daily and last for a limited time, while supplies last.
What do you need to do?
If you want to shop the sales, you’ll need to be a Prime member. Amazon Prime costs $139 per year or $14.99 per month. New Prime members get a 30-day free trial before paying.
With a Prime for Young Adults (formerly Prime Student) membership, eligible college students and people ages 18 to 24 pay $69 per year or $7.49 per month after a 6-month trial. Some recipients of government assistance may also be eligible for a discounted rate.
And keep your options open. Amazon’s events tend to spur copycat sales from other retailers such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy and others.
