When is Prime Big Deal Days 2025?

October Prime Day is on. Officially called Prime Big Deal Days, the sale will happen Oct. 7-8 this year.
The event starts at 12:01 a.m. PT on Oct. 7, and runs for 48 hours.

When was the last Amazon Prime Day?

The summer version of Amazon Prime Day was July 8-11, 2025, a lengthy 96-hour event. NerdWallet taught you how to shop Prime Day on a budget and had some ideas for which products to buy and skip.

What is Prime Day?

Born in 2015, Prime Day is the made-up sale holiday brainchild of Amazon. It’s a limited-time summer sale with an exclusive guest list — Amazon Prime members.
In the retail world, Prime Day stands alongside Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a go-to shopping event for good buys in many product categories. Past installments of Prime Day have included price cuts on everything from Echo devices to toilet bowl lights.
The first October version of Prime Day happened in 2022. It was called the Prime Early Access sale. Now known as Prime Big Deal Days, it’s become Amazon’s way of training us to shop for the holidays before November.
Not surprisingly, Amazon is touting deals on toys, electronics, travel gear, clothing and more this year. It’ll be a good time to get your Christmas gifts early and on sale, if you’re good like that.

What do you need to do?

If you want to shop the sales, you’ll need to be a Prime member. Amazon Prime costs $139 per year or $14.99 per month. New Prime members get a 30-day free trial before paying.
With a Prime for Young Adults (formerly Prime Student) membership, eligible college students and people ages 18 to 24 pay $69 per year or $7.49 per month after a 6-month trial. Some recipients of government assistance may also be eligible for a discounted rate.
And keep your options open. Amazon’s events tend to spur copycat sales from other retailers such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy and others.
