This year Veterans Day falls on Sunday, November 11th, with the federal government’s celebration of it occurring the day after on Monday, November 12th.  NerdWallet wants to say thank you to our troops for everything that you do for us every day.  We appreciate your service to our country in more ways than we can count, and we encourage every American to say thanks in any way that they can, however big or small.

Not in the Armed Forces, and want to do something to say thank you to our troops this holiday season?  Here are our favorite 5 ways to send signs of your thanks this year:

1.  Go Volunteer:

The USO, or United Services Organization, provides a range of volunteer services and programs to help the troops nationwide.  Find one near you!

2.  Adopt a Family:

Soldiers’ Angels work by the slogan ‘may no solider go unloved,’ allowing you to adopt a family for Christmas or give a one time gift or card.

3.  Give the Gift of Heroes: is the leading national 501(c)(3) charity that allows Americans to donate or buy gear in its Heroes Store whose proceeds go to our troops.

4.  Send a letter:

A Million Thanks lets you send a letter or donation of thanks overseas.

5.  Spread the Word to Show Support:

Join the official Support our Troops Facebook page to inspire your friends to show their support and give thanks, too.

NerdWallet hopes you’ll enjoy finding one of the above ways – or more than one – to show your support this Veterans Day and holiday season.
