Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

Today, we’re thrilled to welcome Tapan Bhat to the Nerd family as NerdWallet's first chief product officer.

Bhat joins us as a veteran product, engineering and marketing leader whose 20-plus-year career has a common theme that resonates with all of us Nerds — helping people make complex financial decisions.

Bhat started his career at Quicken, where he built one of the earliest sites focused on helping people decipher personal finance decisions, from banking and loans to mortgages and investing (sounds pretty familiar to us Nerds!). He also led Yahoo’s Integrated Consumer Experiences business group and notably grew the Product Engineering and Design (PED) org to 500 employees. Bhat’s most recent role was CPO at Realtor.com, and he has years of additional experience advising, building and scaling PED teams.

Bhat shares the same consumer-first ethos that we have here at NerdWallet. His expertise in pairing content and applications to deliver exceptional consumer-first product experiences will be hugely valuable to the product, engineering and design teams he’ll be leading at NerdWallet.

“Tapan’s got it all,” says Tim Chen, co-founder and CEO of NerdWallet. “He’s a seasoned leader with deep product expertise and incredible consumer intuition who has spent years building award-winning products and scaling talented teams. Most importantly, he shares our No. 1 value of always putting the consumer first. He has that ‘NerdWallet spark,’ and I can’t wait to watch him raise the bar here.”

When asked what he’s most excited for at NerdWallet, Bhat said it was the opportunity to align his belief in doing what’s right for the consumer with building powerful products to help consumers make decisions. And, of course, working with a team that is passionate about delivering on NerdWallet’s mission.
