The changes are brisk at Brex. For a limited time through NerdWallet and other select partners, the company is offering bigger sign-up bonuses on two Brex Card-annual-fee corporate credit cards.
From Sept. 24 through Jan. 31, 2020, the Brex Card and the Brex Card for Ecommerce will offer Get 10,000 points when you spend $3,000 on a Brex Card within your first 3 months.
The standard offer on both cards is 30,000 Brex Rewards points, and the first five employee cards are free. Additional cards are $5 per month, so companies seeking to provide cards for a dozen or more employees can pocket significant savings with this offer.
Brex is also bringing JetBlue aboard as an eligible airline transfer partner. The company previously announced six other airline partners in July 2019.
Those who use only the Brex Card for all business spending (aka “Brex Exclusive” customers) can transfer their Brex Rewards to JetBlue and those other airline partners at a 1:1 ratio. For those who use the Brex Card but also other business cards, the ratio will be 1.5:1 (meaning 1.5 Brex rewards points will be needed for 1 airline mile).
The Brex Card for Ecommerce doesn't typically earn ongoing rewards, but points from the sign-up bonus can be redeemed for statement credit, to book travel and to transfer to airline partners. Brex Exclusive criteria do not apply to this card, meaning that Brex Card for Ecommerce cardholders get a 1:1 transfer ratio regardless.
Brex cards are targeted toward early-stage companies with significant cash flow. Instead of requiring a personal guarantee and evaluating credit scores, Brex examines other factors to determine eligibility, including funding sources, cash flow and spending patterns. Brex cards are charge cards, meaning the balance must be paid in full every 30 days.
Those who use the Brex Card exclusively for their business spending earn elevated rewards rates through its Exclusive rewards program:
Earn 7 points per dollar spent on rideshares and taxis.
Earn 4 points per dollar on travel booked through the Brex portal.
Earn 3 points per dollar spent on restaurants.
Earn 2 points per dollar on recurring software expenses.
Earn 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.
Nonexclusive users earn a flat 1 point per dollar on all other spending.
