The right business credit card can mean great benefits for business owners and their employees. Business cards often come with higher credit limits and better financing because businesses may have to put more charges on a card than the average consumer. And more purchases mean more opportunities to earn valuable rewards.
The Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card offers a lot of great ways to earn miles redeemable for travel and other rewards, plus the card comes with a whole range of additional perks. Here’s a quick refresher on some of the well-known benefits of the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card, followed by lesser-known perks that could make this card just what your business is looking for.
The well-known reasons
Welcome bonus: Earn 50,000 bonus miles and a $50 statement credit after spending $2,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months. Terms Apply.
Annual fee: $0 intro for the first year, then $99.
Bonus miles on Delta purchases: Earn 2x miles per dollar spent on Delta Air Lines purchases.
First checked bag free for up to nine travelers: The primary cardholder and up to eight companions on the same reservation can each check a bag for free when you book your Delta flight directly through the airline and use the card to pay.
Priority boarding: The cardholder and traveling companions can board in the Main Cabin 1 Boarding Group, meaning earlier access to overhead bin space.
Earn bonus SkyMiles on dining, shipping and advertising
The bonus categories on this card could really add to your mileage stash. Double SkyMiles on dining is great for both personal use and entertaining clients. You earn 2 Delta SkyMiles for every dollar spent on the card at restaurants around the world, but bars and nightclubs are excluded. Terms apply.
The Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card gives double miles on shipping services, including providers like UPS, FedEx and the United States Postal Service in the U.S. Double miles on domestic advertising is another valuable bonus. It applies to select online, TV and radio advertising that promotes a business. These are often big expenses for businesses, so the double-miles bonus could make that next vacation happen faster than originally planned. Terms apply.
$100 Delta flight discount
If you charge at least $10,000 of purchases during your card membership year and renew your card, you’ll earn a $100 discount off a Delta flight. This perk is most valuable if you hit that $10,000 minimum with a lot of charges on dining, shipping and advertising. Since those charges get you 2 miles per dollar, your $10,000 can earn up to 20,000 SkyMiles. But if you use the card for purchases that pay only 1 mile per dollar, it’s not a great value because you could instead be using a card that rewards you more lucratively for the purchases your business makes most. Terms apply.

20% back on in-flight food and drinks
Get 20% back of the cost of in-flight food and drinks on Delta flights when you use this card. The discount also applies to headsets for onboard entertainment, but not wireless internet. Be patient, though, as it takes several weeks for it to be returned to your statement in the form of a credit. Terms apply.
No foreign transaction fees
The foreign transaction fees some cards charge for purchases made overseas add about 3% to everything you buy. If you make big-ticket purchases out of the country, or if you make a lot of small purchases out of the country, this card can save you a lot of money. Terms apply.
Rental car coverage
Use this card to pay for a rental car and you’ll automatically be covered for loss and damage in many situations. This is secondary insurance, meaning your own auto insurance policy would apply first before you rely on this card. This added protection may be all you need to avoid paying for expensive insurance at the car rental counter. Liability coverage is not included, and certain vehicle types and incidents are excluded.

If you buy something with the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card card and it breaks or is stolen, the coverages on this card may pay to repair or replace it. The protection covers eligible purchases for up to 90 days in case of accidental damage or theft. This may not seem like a big deal until the unfortunate day you crack your new iPhone screen or some office equipment is stolen.
If you use the card to buy an item with a warranty of five years or less, the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card can tack on another year of warranty protection. This is a valuable benefit when using the card for expensive items like computers, appliances or office equipment, saving you from having to fork over for expensive repairs.
The bottom line
The Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card offers a solid welcome bonus plus specific benefits for business owners and their employees. And with no annual fee for the first year, there isn’t much downside, making this card valuable for both loyal and first-time Delta flyers. Just remember that the only way to get the most of the card benefits is by paying your credit card balance in full every month. Otherwise, interest charges can offset the value of the perks.
