Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

There's a better way to get advance tickets to see your favorite band than waiting in line overnight.

It's called Citi Entertainment (formerly known as Citi Private Pass), and it's a free perk for Citibank credit and debit cardholders. Here's a closer look at this benefit and how it works.

Citi Entertainment: The basics

Citi Entertainment gives cardholders early or preferred access to thousands of entertainment experiences, like concerts, sporting events and other types of performances. If you have one of the following types of Citi cards, you're eligible for this perk:

  • Citibank credit cards with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express logo.

  • Citibank debit cards with a Mastercard logo.

If you have an eligible card, you'll have a chance to get tickets or VIP packages before the general public can buy them. Sometimes there's even a chance to snag preferred seating or gain entree to exclusive Citi cardholder events.

What events are offered?

There are thousands of potential events you can gain presale or VIP access to including:

  • Concerts.

  • Sporting events.

  • Dining.

  • Theater.

Not every single event you may want to attend is eligible for this perk. The best way to see what's available is to either visit the Citi Entertainment website and browse the current offers or sign up for Citi Entertainment's weekly emails that are tailored to where you live.

How does it work?

If you see an event on Citi Entertainment's site that you're interested in, you can register for the presale. Or if tickets are available, you can click on the "Buy Now" for Citi Preferred Tickets or "Buy Presale Tickets" for tickets that aren't yet being sold to the general public.

In many cases, you'll be taken to a third-party website of the ticket seller, typically Live Nation or Ticketmaster. To proceed, you may also be asked for your passcode, which is typically the first six digits of your eligible Citi card number.

All tickets must be paid for with your eligible Citi card. There is no additional cost to buy tickets through Citi Entertainment but you'll have to pay the ticket seller and they may impose their own fees and surcharges just as if you were buying tickets through any other method.
