Alphabet, also known as Google, is a giant in the tech industry. Google was founded in September 1998, and then rebranded as Alphabet in October 2015.
"Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is Google," Larry Page, one of the company’s co-founders, says on the Alphabet website.
Alphabet also owns Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, Android, Nest, Calico and other entities.
